Is it possible that the only difference in the Rev 1 update was to include the 4th bullet (issue to address) on the paperwork? That maybe the original also addressed that issue but it was not stated as one of the concerns customers might be wanting addressed?

Really sorry to hear that. Mine seems fine after nearly 1000 miles since rev 1 but it was fair before the rev. I do not blame you for selling it. I have no suggestions except for a 4runner, with the 4.0 powertrain, unless you go to a full size truck. Plenty of selection of full sized trucks. Nothing wrong with Frontiers but the styling is dated and the mpg's are not as good as Toyota. You would certainly expect Toyota to take care of dissatisfied owners after such historical proof of such problems after 16 months of production.

3k miles on my Rev 1 and the transmission's positive shifting behavior comes and goes, based on how happy the ECU is with the fuel I'm using. Several straight tanks of 91 E0 and it's shifting well, just some inherent lag in throttle response and shifts initiated vs performed.

How are some of you guys getting 24 mpg on the highway? I just did a 2.5 hour 75 mph interstate trip with cruise on 90% of the way. Best I got was 18 mpg. I was pretty disappointed. Relatively flat north Texas roads. Just me with a few items in the bed under the Roll n Lock. Truck is all stock.

I cannot answer that. There seems to be 2 categories of mpg for these trucks. There are many getting the 24 highway and just as many only getting 18-19 highway. I got 25 going from flat land up to the mountains and 24 on the way back Twice. A bunch of people traded theirs early for bad mpg. Even my old 2014 V8 F150 got over 21 highway. So who knows what the answer is. Mine is 2 wheel drive. Bed is open. For what its worth those were before any tsb updates on the transmission.

Anything over 70 and mpg goes down....This truck will run 80+ all day long if you don't care about mpg.

Anything under 70 and mpg goes up accordingly...

If I'm on a road where I can drive 40-50 mph I get like 25+ mpg.

Yes. Agreed. I have noticed this also, and I drove across the US. 70 MPH seems to be the magic speed, anything over and MPG goes down.

Aren't fuel mileage ratings always based on like 55mph? If you're driving 75 mph its going to get much worse mileage than at 55 or 60, cruise control or not.

I regularly get 24mpg (according to the readout on the dash) on a road trip. This is two-lane highway driving through moderate mountain terrain combined with flat terrain. Speed averages 55 - 70mph. Around town it's 16-18mpg.

OK. I drove a brand new 10 speed F-150 2.7L Ecoboost with a friend....Talk about shifting all the time. All these extra gears in all of these new trucks don't equal the old 4 & 5 speed tranny's. These upper gears are for fuel economy. It's not just the Tacos that have shift issues on highway and freeway driving. That ford shifted constantly...Sometimes 2 or 3 gears up or down. Before having the latest TSB done 2 weeks ago, I drove in S mode. No need to now....I couldn't keep my truck off of 75-80 last week even driving in a head wind. I'm running a K&N drop in and a magna flow muffler. The truck has a lot more power with that magna flow muffler than the stock. I drove 330 miles before having the TSB done and averaged 25.3 MPG. After the TSB, my cruising rpms are higher than before.

Sorry DollarDave, no comfort knowing we are not alone. Today marked the day of disposal, just could not pull the trigger, was going to try on a 17 Four Runner TRD Off Road, keep looking for something to restore my confidence in Toyota, head cleared up and for the moment kept Tacoma. I remain uncomfortable about the latest offerings from mighty Toyota. Please keep us posted with your replacement vehicle. Most disgruntled owners are indeed previous Tacoma faithful, we have grown accustomed to their solid quality oriented vehicles with excellent performance thus the reason to return to Tacoma. Good luck! Mikey4X4 out.

Same here. This is my 3rd Tacoma and always my go-to truck. I'm trying to convince myself to just get past it and keep it, but 50% of the time I drive it, I'm annoyed about it. Time will tell, but currently, I plan to step up to a full size. For now, it's probably an F-150, even though I always make fun of my friends that have them. :)

I am a huge F150 fan and have owned many. The best thing they offer now is the 3.5 ecoboost. Has V8 power and towing with superb mpg. Just not a fan of the "new" 10 speed transmission. Maybe because we know what "new" transmissions have to offer. If you can get that truck with a 6 speed automatic that would be a great truck. That is what I was considering when I had my doubtful few months in my Tacoma. I really need a mid size instead of a full size. I believe I have a good Tacoma now. Time will tell.

I considered F-150 and decided not to mainly because they are so freakin' expensive. For the same money I paid for my new TACOMA I could have bought a 3 year old F-150 with about 50,000 miles....and that F-150 won't be worth half of the TACOMA in 5 years.

Plus it wouldn't fit in my garage without me redoing my garage. I'm not gonna lie...I bought my TACOMA for crawl control. I was hooked when I saw it.

Got a call a few hours later from the service manager at my dealer saying they might be replacing my trans.... :crapstorm:

I hear you on the garage. My F150 would fit but no room in front or behind it due to my forward area use in my 24 x 24 garage. As far as prices the only way to buy a new Ford, speaking from experience, is when they have either $12k off last years, or end of year clearance, on new models or they offer the A Plan to all buyers (usually once a year). Another way I saved an extra $2500 was to temporarily finance through Ford, at roughly 5%, to get the fat rebate, then turn around and refi at my credit union for 1.79%. Just have to make sure the Ford loan has no early payoff penalty. Last time I never made 1 payment to Ford yet got the extra $2500 off the sticker. You have to ask to get that deal because they don't advertise it. In fact I beat the Ford employee A Plan prices by $1500. I have many friends that built Ford trucks and could get me the plan and I still beat their prices. When I was considering another Ford I was looking at paying around $30k for trucks with $42k stickers. The last one I bought in 2014 had a msrp of $34.5k and, including tags and taxes, I paid $27.7k out the door. Just keep in mind I drove 4 hours for the deal. I drove over 4 hours for my Tacoma as well and got $1500 off that sticker. Locally I cannot get good prices on Toyota vehicles. They are all "no haggle" dealers selling at $200 under msrp on a good day. The dealer I use for Ford is Koons.com out of the DC area and today they have many new trucks at least $8k to $10k off msrp. The deals are out there if you look for them.
