If you have no sticker , the only way of finding out what Software for the trans. that is on your truck is from hooking the truck up to Techstream , or calling and believing the dealer. The last proof I have seen of the latest software is a screenshot of Techstream , and a picture of an applied sticker that the software. The # ends in 300 .

Because if you have a tech load up the TSB and apply out the updates, the version of the of the map will end in 300, which is the revision 1 update. I can see how they would be confused as the map ends in 300, and the old one ended in 200, but it's revision 1, and it's been out since november 15th (ish)

On my TOYOTA.COM online service record it states rev 1. The original got rid of P-R, R-D hesitations. Shifting was better. The rev 1 got rid of my 1-2 and 2-3 flare and response in all gears is better. Gas mileage is down slightly.

Stock long box truck with shell .
Never had those problems myself. I should not complain at all but I hunt for gears on flat roads above 60 mph, and it will not use 6th gear at all above 65 mph.
If the latest T-SB works for me , I will be happy as a 2 peckered goat in fall .

I didn't get one in July for the original tsb. Could care less about the sticker as long as it shifts better which it does.

Had Rev 1 done last Friday, and as usual it drives great......for a few hundred km, then right back to lugging and hunting and shifting itself out of power. Guess I will call Toyota Canada tomorrow to update my open case file. If they would just turn off this self learning transmission program so it would always drive like it was just reset, I would be happy.

I had REV1 done about 500 miles ago. Thought it fixed most issues. The engine had more pep, was quieter, shifted better, etc. However, just like the first TSB my truck is painfully sliding back to to its former self being sluggish, having rougher shifting etc.

The thing that I can't stand is the low RPM/light throttle missing/jerking feeling I get. It even happens with the ECT on.

Have you just tried driving in S6 to see if that gives you the shifting you want? In theory the AI function is disabled when using S mode.

I have tried that. I don't notice much of a difference though so I usually drive in D unless I'm towing my boat.

DollarDave, congratulations think you made a wise choice, awaiting 17 Four Runner due to arrive EOM. Questions; did you go back to your dealer where you purchased the Tacoma? Do you feel they were aggressive in evaluating your Tacoma? Which model did you order? Enjoy your 4 Runner, very solid, Japanese produced unit? Loved four Tacomas , very dissapointed with fifth, latch onto 2017 4 Runner, word is 2018 will be powered by 2GR-FKS 3.5 .

Like you I also had a 1st and 2nd Gen. I count my blessings that my 2016 is doing well now. I too looked at new F150 trucks as well as 2016 4runner trails and 2017 4runner TRD off roads. Fords were too big. Love the 4runners. Fortunately my Tacoma is good now. Nobody can blame you for all you went through. I know my patience was very thin for a few months. At least you are getting a proven power train with peace of mind. Which model are you getting. I know if mine gives any more trouble I may follow your lead. Got hopes up mine will continue to be good and keep it a few years. Shame Toyota did not treat you better. I guess we are simply numbers to them. Surprised you stuck with the brand. Best of luck on your new one.

I bought a little Autel A319 for $25 on EBay. It has some great functions including the ability to read the ECM software version. If you don't trust your dealer (you probably shouldn't) then it is an easy and cheap way to check plus you can now read codes and live stream data.

My 16 DCLB sport is at the dealer now getting the TSB applied and transmission fluid level checked. I was happy when the service adviser recognized the issues i was describing and said that they have seen this before. They gave me a loaner since I was also having some warranty replacement parts on the interior installed. Mine is a US built taco. Once I get it back from the dealer, ill vote in the poll. Thanks to this long, but awesome thread for all the deets. :fingerscrossed:
