I know a lot of you have already been down this road but thought I would throw this out there for the rest of the new guys. If you are looking to mount some thing on your Tie down rails here is the perfect t slot nut. I got these from Fastenal. Here is a pic, part number is right on the package. Hope this helps some one!

Whats the thread inside? I found some at McMaster-Carr, but the hole is 5/8"-11, and that is a bit overboard for most applications.

I've always used 3/8" carriage bolts facing out with a washer. They've always worked great for me, but I really like how clean these look. Thanks for sharing.

I used these to mount my bed rack, got them from busy bee tools, you can get them with a few different thread sizes

I tried a few things, ended up going with the Grizzly G9514 T-slot nut, fits the rails like it was made for them and takes common 1/2" threaded bolts:
    http://www.grizzly.com/products/T-Slot-Nuts-pk-of-4-9-16-Slot-1-2-13/G9514

A 1/2" carriage bolt also fits very tight, but is prone to getting jammed in there so I'd only use those for applications where you don't need to slide them around very often.

thanks! I'm using these to mount bike racks. Has anyone used these t-slot nuts to attach to fork mounts, and if so, what kind of fork mounts did you use?
