Diesel engines are more efficient, easier to maintenance, have less maintenance over the life of the engine, can create more horsepower and torque, and have better MPH.

Every time I travel and see a Hilux I salivate. It is the ultimate pickup in my mind and there's a reason almost every country in the world relies on them.

    It's a damn same we can't get them:mad:

Maybe your experience is different than mine but I come from owning a long line of Cummins engines. I've owned every one from the 12 volt to the current 6.7L and I can say without a doubt the life you get out of a diesel engine and the avoidance of "big" maintenance issues far surpass and gas engine.
Sure the fuel filter does need to be changed more often and oil is more, but air flow and water separation are taken care of easily.
Regardless, it would be nice for us as consumers to have the option in the US. I know diesel engines well enough to know that if I had a diesel taco, i could tweak it enough to make it a solid towing performer, get great MPH and have more power and torque than a gas engine, and I could do this relatively cheap. Seems like a supercharger is the only option for a gas engine and then you can literally see the gas game drop.

You guys are too harsh. There are people for whom this is the right set-up. It's not a full on factory race truck, and that's not what they're going for either (ridiculous arch-nemesis graphics aside.)

That guy who came in here last week for example - afraid to the point of paranoia about getting VSC problems as a result of lifting. But looking for a little more capable off-road suspension. This is *perfect* for him.

And it doesn't sound like the price is too bad. You're way ahead to buy this thing than a RevTek lifted by 4 Wheel Parts (Sorry "Dealer Services International") for comparable money.

This isn't directly comparable to a 5100 only lift - the shocks seem to be a pretty good premium model vs 5100s, and with extended length springs and leaf pack.

Yes, some people like to turn a wrench and make their own modifications to save a buck and get max value for the dollar. For people like that I'm the first to say this is the wrong choice.

If you want a turnkey Daily-Driver/highway/overlanding solution out of the box, Toyota seems to have done a decent job here.

This is true. Most people these days don't keep a vehicle longer than about 3 years, so even when diesel fuel was cheaper than petrol a few years ago, there was no way anyone was making that money back. Luckily, diesel engines help resale value so it isn't all lost. Regardless, for most people's intended use of a truck, money savings ain't going to happen with a diesel vehicle over a petrol one.

Care to cite a source on that? Import diesels are coming, just not as fast as many would like.

Gears instead. But gears and a dizzle engine would be sweet fo'realz.

Yeah, I had the same reaction. Moronic move by Honda. It's a V6 + electric hybrid, but who the fuc* takes a V6 seriously in a $90-100k super car? Don't get me started man, after 6-7 years of waiting, that's all they could come up with. Meanwhile, Hyundai is churning out new engines by the week.

^Whatever. There are enough rich Honda fanbois that the new NSX will sell out year after year.

I think avoiding vibes (consistently, on a mass production basis) is one reason Toyota limited the lift to 2". The other reason is to keep the stock UCA.

I think the TX Baja will put pressure on dealers used to making a quick profit selling $2000 spacer lifts.

I love the look of the Wheels on the baja (even though they arent real beadlocks ) they look so good.

The graphics on the truck is ehhh, just seems alittle overpriced if it is going to be over 35k ...

And the hole story on them only making 1000 of them seems like BS to me ..

Doubt it. The last NSX was a very slow seller and the last 2-3 years it was offered, hardly anyone bought it.

You are sounding more and more like one of those Honda fanbois you mentioned yourself. Production volumes for the NSX were abysmal and that was not by choice. Even when it was launched in the late 80s, the NSX was never a serious contender because of the V6 and low power output. If someone is dropping 80, 90, 100 grand on a sports car, they want more than 300 HP, and they want the torque, no matter how good the handling. And please, don't compare anything to the Dodge viper. No one outside the US rates it as a good car, and even in the US, it has a very limited fan base.

Going back to my original point before we got on this tangent, Honda and Toyota have fallen off the technology curve. Where is the twin clutch? Where is the start stop? Where is cylinder deactivation? Directed injected turbo? Diesel? Most German cars and many Korean cars offer all of the above in some flavor.

Can anyone fill me in on how talking about the baja turned into diesel and technology curves and sales and amaroks(?) And all this stuff?
