Mine is a 96 regular cab 4wd. The wire that you splice into comes from the ECU. look for the 26 pin plug and locate the black wire with yellow strip(usually thats the one for the rpm signal)

Installed the tachometer...I had a 3" Tach that I got when I got my taco over a year ago. Super easy install the hardest part was running the wires...oh and the rpm wire was light green with black stripe

Looks a tad overkill due to size but I like it...I replaced the white bulb that came with it with a red led bulb

for power maybe...you need to find the rpm signal wire. Someone correct me if I'm wrong I am far from an expert..

Based on the pic it would have to be the RED/IGN wire. I think. I guess I will find out soon enough.:confused::eek:

I have an '02 base model w/o a tach and I intend to add one.

I'm new here, but the first thing I did was check out the FSM.

Looking at this diagram, could you not just tap the wire at connector A pin 4 for the tach signal?

This is assuming Toyota didn't build two completely different wiring harnesses for the tach/no tach vehicles...
