    One underlying theory here is that the acetic acid in vinegar lowers stomach acidity (increases its pH) since acetic acid is a weaker acid than hydrochloric acid. It is also believed that vinegar (acetic acid along with its acetate salt) may help buffer and maintain stomach acid at a pH level of about 3.0. In this milder acidic environment, the stomach can still efficiently digest food but it causes less problems with the esophagus and thus less heartburn.

    That was my point, I dont think it is the vinegar in Taco Bell sauce that causes digestive problems.

    I did get very sick after a steak burrito one day..... my entire body was shaking and I had stuff coming out of both ends.... ER wanted to admit me but I refused..... it still costed me a couple grand tho.

    I stopped at Taco Bell about 25 years ago. Took one bite of a little 49 cent taco, spit it out on the tray, took the taco out of my wife's hand, tossed that on the tray as well, and left. We rinsed out mouths out with mouth wash in the parking lot.

    Good thing I live in Canada. Free health care.
