I almost went there and/or NJIT, but I hate the city-so my options would be commute to the school or live there which both those are equally complete shit. Commuting on the highways and thru the city in NJ would drive me insane and I'd probably explode. Living there, I'd hate it because where's all the fuckin woods/forest? there is none wtf basically, city=terrible for me. NJIT is in Newark, NJ and is surrounded by a garbage city, way worse than Stevens.

New Paltz is actually a nice school with a nice small city/town area surrounded by rural land, live off campus, but the drive home is only a straight shot 1 hour on a not too crappy/traffic-full highway.

Sounds like a solid choice to me! Anything is better than NJ, f that place. Upstate NY would be awesome if it wasn't governed/under some major bullshit laws. Too many libs in govt I guess, ruined the state. Otherwise I'd consider living here

What should I get my Bachelors in?
Graduating in spring with my associates in welding and I want to get a bachelors in something.
Welding or Law Enforcement are my 2 ideal careers.

LE doesn't really care what degree I have unless I want to go federal in which case they would want an accounting or computer sciences degree.

I'm thinking of a business major with a sociology or psychology minor.

The reason I am thinking business is I may eventually open a small business and do fabrication/welding as a side/retirement business and I think a business class would be beneficial.
I'm thinking of a sociology minor because sociology has always been interesting to me and I would like to learn more about it.
Psychology may also be useful in LE.

Psychology degrees are almost completely useless unless you have a masters degree.
