Taco comes in fourth....WTF

Bad news: somebody filmed the disclosure meeting.




The truck is what it is. Ive driven the colorado, and yes, it does have better road manners than the taco sport. To car journalists, car-like (or SUV-like) comfort ranks high. Chevy and ford have that, apparently. The tacoma doesn't. The big thing that made me choose the taco over the chevy was the interior finish. It is a strange mix of refined and rugged that I havent seen before or since. And I kind of dig the rough, brute handling and sitting on the floorpan. Those things to me are reminiscent of some of the old bare-bones quad cabs we used in West Africa. For me, those things are a memory-tied association with adventure. The tacoma is really an odd duck when you think about it. It has a crap-ton of modern gadgets and gizmos, yet in some ways the heritage of that old 1968 compact pickup still shine through. Is it as comfortable as a Honda Accord? No. Is it fun? Yarp.

No vehicle really checks every box on my list. Each one has a category where they shine and a category where they fall short. Thats both the fun and the curse of having a choice, is you dont know where it sucks until a competitor comes along. I dont need to know that my truck is better at everything to justify my purchase. It might not be the best at everything, but it is best at a few things that are important to me. Further, its good at most things, and fair-to-poor at a few things that I can either fix or don't care about. That's enough to keep me happy.

 

I don't have a problem with visibility or the seating position either, but like you if I were going so put spacers under the seat it would definitely be under the front.

Yeah at 5'-11", I do not have a visibility issue nor does wifey at 5'-6." Also, I happen to find the seats very comfortable and I like the seating position, maybe I'm weird (ah fuck-it I am a weird-o ), but fits me just fine.

 

Tacomas suck. Everyone on this forum is in denial. Stupid Toyota. Stupid Tacoma. Stupid Mike Sweers.

I only come here as part of a sociology experiment researching idiots who buy trucks with car engines.

My next thesis will be on idiots who buy cars with truck engines.

Im being offered a new vehicle however the fact remains I bought a truck to use as a truck. I know most on here are mall crawling rambos humping around 3k of gear on 35+.. I just wanted a reliable truck. To go from A to B not even as a daily driver. Problem I have with Toyota is I dont want another taco, I dont have time for BS. I want my money back so I can move on. Unfortunately I had to get an attorney to deal with it. It will go back on the lot and Im sure the next guy will be on here searching problems.....

Actually the threads on here were VERY helpful and helped me outline and connect my problem.

 

I don’t think they are allowed to put it back on the lot if it’s been lemon-lawed. Am I wrong? That becomes attached to the VIN.

 

So wait, you're being offered a new truck by Toyota, seems fair. You don't want said new truck because reasons. I fail to see what your reasons are or even why you are here. Every post you've made is a complaint on a forum. You think we're gonna go trade in our trucks for something else?

The sitting position does suck. That’s a common complaint.

 

If you look at any of the world’s “most beautiful women”, there’s always something a little goofy. It’s what makes them eye-catching.

 

I know you are being facetious. Still I wouldn’t say Tacomas suck —although the automatic transmission certainly does.

What I’d say, though, is don’t think I have met a group of owners less willing to hear any type of criticism about their trucks, however valid it may be. Or perhaps it is just this forum. I don’t really know.

Thankfully for us, Toyota values open criticism as part of its culture. That’s how it improves its products.
