my 95 2.7 manual taco is acting up...

the truck cuts out around 3000rpm like a revv limiter.... and before 3000rmp if im giving it alot of throttle.... ive replaced sparkplugs distributer cap and rotor, fuel filter, and ive ran fuel system cleaner through it several times... the truck as plenty of fuel pressure and the exhaust is not restricted.... i have to keep the truck in 4th gear just to maintain 55mph on flat ground.... it was running perfect 2 weeks ago and then it started cutting out around 4500rpm and then just got worse.... it has been getting colder here where i live so that might be contributing to the problem. the problem exists wether the engine is cold or hot.... it runs just fine and goes just fine untill i give it a little throttle and it like there is a brick wall infront of me.... ses has not thrown any codes... any help will be greatly appreciated.... thanks

The only time I have experienced something like this was with a carbureted engine. And it was because 1 of the carbs blew apart. Anyway. Check your intake system. Make sure there are no obstructions. Check your Throttle Body. Make sure it is opperating normally, smooth, and opens up all the way. Check for leaks in the system. Are you running rich when this happens? Pull your plugs and give them a look.

Sounds like a bad Mass Air Flow Sensor.

    getting there....
welcome to tw!! sounds to me like its either the mass air flow sensor is reading bad, or its possible that the catalytic converter is getting clogged up. definitely check the throttle plate and see if its opening all the way up, and check the cable too.....could be stretched out too much and not letting it open fully.
