I was accelerating to get on a highway last night and my '17 TRD Sport started sputtering real bad, lost power and the check engin light and "TRAC OFF" lights came on. I couldn't get her to go over 15 MPH. I pulled off and turned her off and restarted her. Lights were off and appeared to be running fine so I started back down the highway and it happened again. Called roadside assistance and had her towed to the dealer. They have been looking at her for about 8 hrs and still haven't told me whats wrong.

Just a bunch of old crap
Sounds like it went into limp mode. Curious to see what the OBD data reads.

Crankshaft position sensor... I'd at least tell 'em to check it before messing with anything else.

Shouldn't this not be happening to '17s?

I hope 17s are not gonna have CPS issues now too.

I'm betting on it being the CPS as well. Odd that it happened to a 17 though...

I would think CPS failure would immediately shut down the engine because ECU doesn't know the position of the crank, rather than going into the limp home mode.
    Let's see what dealer says.

On the other CPS failure threads the victims were still able to move their trucks in limp mode if I remember right.

Those that have been through this, are they replacing the CPS with an upgraded unit, or something that will fail again.

    Asking for a friend.

Why wouldn't it happen on a 17 vs a 16? People always think the god is going to come down and fix issues with the next model year....Guess what! Same parts as the year before...
