Depending on how bad the frame is bent, it might be totaled sadly

OP- how hard were you hit? I'm hoping it's way more than a fender bender.

    Glad no one was hurt.

Had bad frame damage to the boxed section on my old 2000 Tacoma and the insurance company had it repaired

I've ran red lights to prevent this from happening. Never been ticketed for it.

Yeah, it’s worked for me before but sounds like OP had a car in front of him.

It was hard enough that it shoved me hard into the car in front. I even left a good gap between between us.

I'll post a video once the insurance portion is over. it's freaking ridiculous.

May god bless you all. Did you go to hospital to get checked? I was rear ended a couple of years back and walked away fine only to find out a couple of days later I had neck issues.

Holy sh@t OP I have a 2 month old and I pray nothing like this happens to me or at least if it happens that is just me in the car.. im glad your kid is good!

Let me ask you and others in this thread something:

I am not an engineer or mechanic or car guru.. but how far under the “safety” argument does this new cars/trucks in our case “tacos” are build let’s say softer so the truck absorbs the impact? I don’t know how hard you’ve been hit but your truck bed also received the hit.. I’m guessing the rear plastic bumper is bullsh@t.. when somebody hits you is like the bumper is not there..the hit goes alll the way in damaging several pieces.. more than having a steel bumper... so my point is, why not steel bumper so it holds the impact and the truck does not get that damaged?? I know that on an accident with a steel bumper you would probably have frame damage even if the bumper looks ok... I know that.. but to me it looks like there should be like a mid point between our useless front and rear bumpers and a complete steel one....
