Limp mode doesn't really mean anything, someone was on here saying he went into limp mode because his brake pedal switch failed. My bet is the engine isn't hurt to bad or blown. Definitely something up though, I like head gasket. Not a cheap repair if you pay out of pocket but I doubt you will be buying an engine.

Yeah, I probably did some things 30 years ago that I would NOT repeat with my kids in the car :)

If your truck literally stopped working the day after the warranty ran out you’d just be like “mkay that’s on me”? The OP didn’t do anything wrong. He’s barely outside of warranty. This is on Toyota.

As I did, but Ya ain't getting over this pass in a Ford Mustang, stockish. It looks like a road because all the 4wd dune buggies that the Canucks play around on out here in the winter. Those Canadian's look at me like I'm crazy bringing a nice truck out here.

Do you know what warranty expiration means? It can be 1 second out of warranty and toyota has no obligation to cover.

Could just be a defective gasket. 60k is kind far for a cracked head.

I mean the warranty is 60k so technically they can say: “sorry sir”. Of course I don’t agree with it but it could happen. At the very least they should pay half for whatever needs to be fixed.

Pics and videos never do justice when off-road.

In these pics it looks like a civic will make it trough that. Definitely isn’t the case.

That hill is probably a lot steeper than the video (and me) give it credit for - but with a little running start on the all season tires and some rpm on the 302 in 2nd gear (manual tranny) that old Mustang was an adventure (I am darn lucky that I never ended up going over a cliff)

So they don’t lose a customer? I do understand what you are saying but they build their name by being super reliable, so a trucks engine failing just 2k outside of warranty is not right. But yeah, legally they can tell tell him to go pound sand.

Yep, I had a couple, Ya ain't getting over that pass unless maybe with rear lockers and some lift? Not saying a mustang couldn't do it. But you would need some lift and a locked differential. Usually the trail has loose rocks and ruts but the video is actually the first time ai made it to the top.

I’d be all kinds of butthurt about it but there is no argument that Toyota has any kind of obligation to provide a repair. The warranty is black and white and this is not covered. The OP didn’t do anything wrong but neither is Toyota since this occurred outside the covered period.

I don't really get the "not right" part, thats more of a "shit happens" to me. I don't know, they have no reason to fix it and I don't see it as wrong if they don't. You get a 60k warranty going in that you are well aware of, and you need to weigh the risk and decide if thats enough. Your betting it won't break after 60k and sometimes you loose the bet. The benefit of toyota is just better odds.
