If it’s a hard no I’m not begging, I’ll find a street corner to rent, tow it to with the motor in the bed and cover it with signs hopefully it doesn’t come to that and can have my lil truck back for a reasonable price. If not It’s hammer down to crazy town :annoyed: after all other options have passed haha

Yeah, that's one way to go. But again, Toyota is under no legal or moral obligation whatsoever to do you any favors. They gave you a 60K miles powertrain warranty and that has passed. Best of luck to you brother.

PS: you can choose to call it begging. I prefer to call it negotiating.

They don’t personally eat the full bill. The dealers get money from the manufacturers for these kind of things. The store in this particular situation was a Ford dealer. It was a business customer with a 6.7 Powerstroke. I don’t remember all the details and I’ve seen it happen a few times over the years. Obviously this was the most expensive bill I’ve seen. Truck was in the shop for a couple of weeks waiting on parts. I’ve seen a lot of crazy stuff over the years. A lot of neglected things that were denied warranty with hefty repair bills, including one guy who bought a 3.5L Ecoboost F150. He put like 45k on it and never once did an oil change. That thing was sludged to hell. If memory serves me correctly, it was almost 17k just for the new engine. Not sure if he someone how insurance to pay for it or whatever the final outcome was but it was customer pay.

You’d be surprised how much money dealers get back from the manufacturers. They get bigger bonus’s back with those customer surveys. That’s why usually if a customer writes a bad survey they call you right away and try to rectify your issues. Even heard of some shady stuff service managers have done to retain their high customer satisfaction, because it also effects their huge bonuses.

I would need to see some documentation to believe it, there is no way a dealer is gonna pay 20k out of pocket just avoid a bad review. Thats enough to buy a whole new car, they would just have to give vehicles away every time someone threatened them with a bad review.

True re first sentences. While a different thing of course, I am sure Toyota must have taken out some kind of insurance to parry the cost of doing the frame swaps. Between the work plus rental car for me was 17-18K last summer and even with my mods I'm sure my truck isn't worth that much.

I never said the dealer put 20k out of their own pockets because a customer filed a bad survey. I said dealers get money for things that they can use for things like goodwill, their service departments, renovations, ect. This particular situation the repair would of been in the 20k range for the customer. I can’t remember fully if they ended up getting Ford to cover it or if they used goodwill for the entire repair. More than likely Ford cover all or most of it and we good willed the rest. All I know is the customer didn’t pay a penny for anything. They were a big commercial customer though. Ordered many fleet trucks and had all service and maintenance done through our auto group.

Yeah most dealers don't give a fuck about trying to get corporate to goodwill stuff.

They just give the Toyota vsa phone number out and tell them vsa will cover it.

Umm no. I said people wouldn’t be calling a dealership a “stealership” if they got comped a 20k repair bill. Hypothetically speaking about people here. Also never said how the bill would of been covered. Like I already stated usually a bill that high is covered fully or mostly by the manufacturer.

Do you need more examples? Or do you have enough mental capacity to figure it out?

Unsure of your day job, but since you’re good at taking things out of context, you’d make one hell of a reporter in today’s society.

Its right there dude all the stuff you said, you also haven't given any examples at all, just a hearsay statement about some dealership you used to work at. That is why I said I would need to see some documentation to believe. The idea that a dealer is just going to wave a 20k repair out of goodwill is ridiculous and exactly what you implied with your first statement of "I’ll bet none of them are calling them stealerships when they seen 16-20k repair bills that were out of warranty be covered out of good will.". Then you went on to say well the dealer doesn't cover the whole thing the manufacture and insurance, this I can believe to some degree, but its important to note the dealership still isn't covering to repair, someone else is, which is exactly what I said, that the dealer would never cover such a thing. Then you stated that a bad survey would somehow be enough the get 20k repair bill waived. This is another ridicules statement. I don't know why you say you didn't say things when it just in your previous posts my dude.

My dealership sell vehicles with lifetime powertrain warranties but that is only if all the maintenance intervals are kept. So I will be a dealership patron as long as i own this truck.

Do you have to get all the maintenance done at the dealer?

In this case Toyota corporate is making the call to cover it. 90% of the time it's up to Toyota to make the call on stuff like this as they will be paying for the repair. BUT it does depend on how the dealer serves it up to Toyota. Some dealers really care about going to bat for the customer and some dealers just don't care.

I had the transfer case go on my 18' SR5 last year at 64,000. Toyota covered the labor ~$500, I was still on the hook for the parts, ~$3,000.

I can have maintenance done elsewhere but must keep documentation that it was done.
