Perfect reliability for me, does exactly what it is asked to do, every time, no exceptions.

The only negative I can possibly think up is the need to double-click Mode to get into camera mode. If I had a choice, I might prefer a single long press-and-hold of Mode to switch to camera mode rather than the double click which requires a bit more dexterity and attention but is faster to complete. I can more easily mash down Mode than double-click it while entering my driveway (which involves turning the wheel, shifting into 1st, monitoring the clutch, adjusting gas/brake, and avoiding pedestrians, garbage cans, other vehicle traffic, and the occasional double-parked delivery vehicle.) Since a long press of up/down locks in that camera, it seems like it should be entirely possible to honor a long press of Mode the same as a double-click and give both options, or use a dip switch to select one of the two. Even better if the front camera just came on automatically upon return to the saved home destination but that's something only the head unit knows.

Exiting my driveway is seamless since the camera kicks in automatically once in Reverse and switches to front as I pull away. I have experimented with backing into the driveway but I prefer the bed facing the street for several reasons.

I definitely would not want to have to reach towards a dash-mounted switch to activate either camera, I doubt I'd ever use that.

I haven't had any issues with mine, but I only just installed it in February of 2020. @abidar apparently installed his in March/April of 2019, and @iampraneel in April/May of 2019. They may have the longest experience with this device of any of the users here. Maybe they will chime in with an update.

    It's working great for me.

@mosccat I did not need a bracket. I like your idea, but I bought a non factory TRD grille, so I just drilled it.

This is not currently possible. With the older firmware in the radio it may have worked, I can't say because I don't remember. But with the recent "Alexa" update, a long press of the Mode button pauses the input source (at least while listening to a USB flashdrive). A subsequent press has Alexa looking for voice input. Things may work work differently if you initiate the long press while on a different audio source.

Does the TSS sensor fit back on with the camera mounted there? Can you post a pic of what the camera sees?

My understanding is that if a long mode press is on the canbus, the germes box could detect it and initiate camera interrupt. The radio might otherwise respond to it differently but I believe the camera interrupt takes priority? If you do a long hold and pop into reverse at the same time, do you get Alexa or the camera? I don’t have her set up on mine, the boys would never stop shouting at her if I did.

Anyway, I ordered a maestro last night so my days of etune are numbered. Still planning to keep the germes box though as I do like the auto on/off and I don’t think the maestro can do that, but I guess I will see what it can do. The videos I’ve seen show a lot of customization capability.

I don't have Alexa set up either. I just tried the long press to see what happened, but I didn't try it in reverse. Part of what makes the Germes desirable is that it doesn't interfere with the normal HU functions.

Setting up a Geo Fence at home would be a neat option maybe?

The camera stays on for 40 seconds after a double press, just press it before you put your blinker on and start the complicated process of parking in your driveway...

EDIT: might be time to think about getting an automatic - ;) joke

That's a very nice wide angle. Is that the Natika WD-011 camera that you have? If so, you're getting a wider angle than I do. My camera is probably 2.5" lower on the grille than yours, and is oriented the other way (wires exit horizontally rather than vertically).

Maybe How much farther back camera is mounted may make the difference between the two grills

Well, I installed my kit tonight and it doesn’t work. The controller powers on and I was getting the rear camera to work intermittently and then it started having lines through the image. Never got an image on the front camera. Reseated connections and then the rear camera stopped displaying. Checked 12V supply off controller for front camera and have 0V. Reseated cables several more times and have nothing displayed. Hitting the mode button does make the controller click, but that’s about it now. Removed the controller and cabling and reconnected factory cables and my rear camera still works fine. Thinking I’m gonna have to give The Taco Garage a call and see what they can do for me. Anybody here have anything similar happen?

Have you tried putting everything back to factory and see if your rear camera starts working again? Sounds like you may have faulty PNP harnesses.
