Well... this started on the 19th, so there was more days to get to 50 only 2 days have gone by, 20% of the time, and we're already at 19 orders or 38% of the goal so chances are we will hit that target and everyone will get 25%

This is a pretty great deal. I've seen excellent videos on how to install it. Any good how-to videos on a way to power a qi charging phone mount from behind the dash? I mean for dummies. I admit I'm one.

I dont have a video but the best way to do it I believe is to grab power from the power outlet in the lower panel of your center dash and connect one of THESE then just connect the usb from the qi charger to it and run it through the DMM cutouts.

It looks like getting behind the lower dash is a bear. I'm waiting on the DMM to come in before I install my GMRS radio so I only have to get behind there once.

It's really not hard to swap the 12v socket in the dash, see this thread.

Slightly easier is using one of these as mentioned in that same thread.

Right. I'm already doing that. But I want to tap into the 12v tucked up behind the dash. I don't want a usb cable hanging in front of anything. Getting behind the lower dash, above the qi charger is what looks so hard.

You can remove the 12V socket without touching any trim, it'll pop out from the front, then disconnect, add some leads to steal power, reconnect and press back into place. Not a ton of slack in the harness though so you'll be futzing very close to your dash.

Or remove radio bezel, loosen the driver display bezel, and loosen the under-steering trim plate enough so you can remove the climate controls. Unplug and set them aside, now you can get to the 12v socket from above if you want to unplug, tap, and re-plug.

Consider using a zip tie for strain relief.

They feel like 22 gauge to me, solid color is +, white w black stripe is ground.

This is the connector for my center console (2016 so it has a socket instead of direct USB). I think the dash one uses purple for the + but it's been a while since I looked (mine is floating disconnected back there).

Lots of room to shove a spade in from the back which is how you'd probably want to do it to retain the socket. Or tap from the front and maybe remove the connector and just heat shrink to secure and insulate the connections.

How do you pop it out from the front? I tried to and I even used more force than I thought was safe and the thing didn’t budge.

Simultaneous outward force on top and bottom tabs and gentle pull and she slides out. Once the inner metal sleeve is out it should be possible to gently wiggle / pry the plastic cap. By no means a trivial task with limited visibility.

Photos may help? A solid set of pick tools are likely very helpful, small blade screwdrivers may suffice but you'd need one for each tab and another to pry outward.
