@FreshMexicanTaco do you have any suggestions for how to stop the unused threaded nuts for the ram mounts on the underside brackets from rattling while going over bumps?

I noticed that the nuts were likely to rattle. I just put some electrical tape on the backside of the unused nuts. That type of nut ensures proper alignment. Great hardware.

Installed my DMM today. Really nice!

However, I found it a little more difficult to install than some on here have said.
Suggestion to OP: perhaps move the plate mounting holes just a smidge to avoid the plastic support tabs on the underside of the panel. The nuts are right up against some of them, making it impossible to get a wrench on the bolt. I did a little trimming to the tabs to get the nuts to fit. (I think someone else mentioned trimming in a previous post)

Otherwise, a great mod for mounting GPS, phones, etc. Feels real solid.

I used a file on the plastic tabs to make some room for the nuts & wrench.

I hadn't had that problem but obviously it is, even if not everybody has experienced it, I wanted to make sure I gave room for miss-drilled holes thats why I used that type of hardware, like @eabrooke said, it not the most elegant solution but tape could work, also, I will see if I can find some kind of plug you can just pop in there to avoid the possible rattle. I might also switch to static hardware, the top and bottom plates are CNC cut so the holes line up perfectly, I know a lot of you have better drilling skills than I am giving people credit for.

Thanks for the response. I’ll be interested if you find any type of plug.

Don't have mine yet, so I may be way off. Couldn't you just put a bolt in them?

No need for plugs. Just a dab of RTV / silicone caulk on each nutplate will cure that and keep them functional.

    Nice job @FreshMexicanTaco!!
    DMM.jpg

    Some feedback:

I'm not sure if my batch of hardware was a different spec and/or the instructions need updating but I never needed a 3/32...

    • The countersunk screws needed a 2mm Allen wrench
    • The Ram ball needed a 1/8" Allen wrench

Also, I appreciate the spare set screw and nut, but I'd rather a lower end price than spares personally.

Thanks for the quick shipping and again, great job!

I can’t find that collar washer thingy you used on the ram ball so you could use a smaller screw with it.

Can you show me where I can get three of those?

I used a small piece of vacuum tube as a spacer. Works great!
