I understand drilling can be intimidating to a lot of people, but this is as far as possible from a "visible" area as ir can be. even if you had messed up holes in that area. they would be very hard to see.
I've sold 3 3rd Gen tacomas already, all with DMMs and it has never been an issue. That being said, in order to keep as low of a profile as possible, it was essential to have the threads under the plastic, so drilling was almost a necessity in order to achieve the design goals I was going after.

Intimidating, yes! But as you said the final results are worth and it is very forgiving if you make mistakes. Very well designed and built, congratulations!
My only comment is that some of the backing plates were bend, slightly so I could bend it back but they had a small bow.
And one thing I definitely agree with: this can go almost unnoticed when you sell your truck.

I have also added a two port USB converter hooked to the always on spare fuse, and now I got an Amazon MagSafe charger connected. This and my wireless CarPlay dongle makes life much easier!
Just quick note: the MagSafe charger is not strong enough for off-roading.

MagSafe chargers are definitely on-road use only. Our mighty magnets are definitely off road ready, but you need the steel plates.
