    maintenance update-
at 307k I am ready for new front shocks (still got the factory originals running), occasionally when braking on rough road my taco starts bouncing

& the rear brakes (factory original) are still good, but due for an overhaul

I guess I will finally be getting my FIRST alignment after I do the front shocks
307k miles with factory alignment....crazy, huh?

    interesting-

"So the basic answer to the question does oil change affect performance is pretty easy. Old oil will reduce engine performance, lower its horsepower, reduce its mileage and eventually shorten its life. Be sure to get your oil change in accordance with the recommendations of your vehicle owner's manual. Dec 24, 2013"

Don't be surprised if your alignment cams are seized when you go to install the front shocks. That's the case with my truck. If they are stuck, you won't be able to lower the LCA down far enough to insert the new shock or to remove the old shock.

I even have new coilovers ready to be installed but I want to have a pro fix the alignment cams first. My wife refuses to let me attempt to cut them out with a sawzall

    Wives I tell ya!

I've been watching this. Watching everyone give you a hard time about it too. I read the article and in my opinion, I don't think the difference will be noticeable. BUT I am an analyst by work so my brain works off of data. I'm very intrigued to see the numbers after a test is conducted. My guess would be in the 100's of a second difference.

Im trying to make 325k with them...almost there :)
    thanks for your comment bud

more impressive is the factory shocks up front....300k on shocks is unheard of
if you drove my truck you would not believe/feel that the shocks are factory original with 300k+ miles

in prep for the test, I did a trial run today
Im roughly 500 miles from 310k (at which point I will do the real before & after testing)
I repeatedly got right around 9 secs (ran the test 6 times)
note- I had some stuff in the bed, which will not be there for the real test

I will do 5 runs prior to oil change
    & 5 runs after
    I will average the results
& the test will be done on the same road/starting point (for all 5 before & after tests)

I anticipate the test happening in about 7-10 days

A little something every chance we get.
I would gladly give you my Monroe replacement front assemblies! They have 2K miles. But not gonna drive from Texas to do it! I just put someone's 2016 front take offs (with some spacers) and the ride is so much better. The rumor is true, so grab someone's cheapo "I need better than stock"

by this monday may 13th (maybe tuesday the latest)
I will have conducted the testing on if an oil change improves 0-60 run time
    & post the results

just crossed 309,800....couple hundred more miles to go

I am also going to send my first oil sample to blackstone for analysis
will be interesting to see the results on that

as the oil drains, here are the pre-oil change times going from 0-60mph
    1. 02:401-10.926 (8.525 sec)
    2. 02:853-11:483 (8.63 sec)
    3. 02:919-11:539 (8.62 sec)
    4. 02:103-10:546 (8.443 sec)
    5. 02:644-11:110 (8.46 sec)

average speed of all 5 - 8.535 seconds

time go go fill the oil & do it again
post oil change time test results coming up in about an hour

not a big difference (1/10 of a second averaged)
but on a track that could be win or lose, right?

    1. 02:634-11:235 (8.601 sec)
    2. 02:093-10:496 (8.403 sec)
    3. 02:116-10:667 (8.557 sec)
    4. 02:077-10:494 (8.417 sec)
    5. 01.837-10:154 (8.317 sec)

I was able to pull off (1) 8.3 run on fresh oil, which did not happen on the 5000 mile old oil

    average of 5 - 8.459 sec
