Hi, everyone. Good to finally be here. Just got this last week, and hope to build it out over a year or so, but urgently need to start with some armor.

Could anyone recommend a local Bay Area shop to help with mods??
Need rock sliders and some skid plates as soon as possible. Going to take it on the trail in Tahoe completely stock this weekend. Will try to find something easy.

This is my 3rd Toyota pickup. 1st one was a '91 1/2 ton Pickup (burgundy like this one). It was was a beast 3.0 V6 4WD 5-Speed, manually locking hub (had to get out of the truck to put in 4WD) That truck got me hooked for life. I drove it all through college and after. Got an '05 Tundra after that. Still regret selling the '91. After living in San Francisco with out a car for a few years it was time to get a vehicle. This is the only choice:

That's not where I live, but thought to take the iconic shot anyway.

Thank you all in advance. I'll need the help get going, but hope to share useful things as I go along.

Welcome! How are you planning to protect your bumpers with street parking? I lived in SF for a few years before. You always knew who lived in the City from the scratched up bumpers.

Yeah, street parking is a real problem. I may get a parking spot for it, but likely not. I figure since I plan to slowly mod the truck once the bumpers take the hit whether from parking or on the trail I'll eventually replace with something for higher ground clearance.

But in general, you just have to hope for the best when you park on the street. I put off buying for a long time because it seemed dumb to park a new truck in the city, but here I am with no regrets!

Welcome to TW. This is a great group of people.

Beautiful truck, and I recommend that you don't leave anything inside your car in the bay area. Auto burglary is out of control.

Body armor is a must. Rock sliders deter door dents and big bumpers deter stupid drivers. ;)

    A few offerings.
If you need bolt stuff I would find a friend in the city that has a good mechanic. Develop that relationship and pay them well to not screw it up.

    These guys are all fabricators.

welcome to tw. I take my truck to preditor offroad/parts mike up in Nevada city. That guy does custom work at an amazing price. Im out of oakland/Richmond btw. I havnt found a good offroad shop down here yet that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for mediocre work.
