I bought my truck last Sept so I didn't drive it in spring or summer and driving home today from work, oh my god this thing is a bug murderer, just washed it sun and now the grille and windshield are covered. My question is what if anything do you use on the windshield to keep them from sticking as bad? I thought about rainx but Idk if itd help. And I assume bug deflectors are placebo effect if any at all.

I use the RainX windshield washer fluid. Does two things: Makes it easier to clean the windshield and also beads water during storm. It usually takes 20 or so washings with the ol squirter before the windshield is sufficiently coated. Also, if you already have normal washer fluid in there you might want to get rid of it before adding this stuff. Otherwise, it will dilute it's effectiveness.

I've also used the rainX fluid and been pleased. I was in Montana on business a couple of years ago, driving from Butte to Missoula, into the setting sun. I was wiping out clouds of bugs and drained the washer fluid. Had to stop a couple times to clean the windshield by hand when it became unsafe to continue.

    Lol.
Keep in mind bugs also increase and decrease in population each year due to weather in spring and winter.

    Thats my David Suzuki pointer.
So no matter what you do it sounds like you're gonna be a serial killer this year!

I drive my truck to work everyday. 43+ mile round trip....1/2 interstate.

Almost never have bugs on my windshield. Installed and AVS II bug deflector the first week after picking the truck up from the Toyota dealership.

It's low profile had me skeptical, but the thing works like a charm !!!!!!!!!

I've been contemplating getting one but I had read most reported no real change, may be worth a try.

Drove a Frontier the last 11 years over same daily roads. It had some type of plastic tinted elevated bug shield...I had bug problems bigtime.

This truck....minimal. Perhaps it's the difference in the two trucks...

All I can say is that I'm pleasantly surprised.

Just do what I do... leave a note on the dash telling them to leave the washer fluid alone. They will. As far as draining it, just drive around town squirting it every five minutes or so. Goes quick.

RainX works best. The only trick is making sure the glass is completely cleaned before applying it. Once every couple months razor blade the glass and rubbing alcohol to completely clean it before applying the rainX.
