This works great, a long with the Ice wax on painted surfaces Detailer for whole truck/ black trim included. Been using it for 8 plus years.

Clear bra for the front end helps, people here in FL will also spray PAM on their front ends (which I've never tried but I've seen work) but yes otherwise rain x for the windshield.

I used McKee's High Performance Glass Restorer to deep clean my windshield a couple weeks ago. Then I did an IPA (alcohol) wipe-down before applying Aquapel.

I had a windshield COVERED in bug splatter that baked in 90° heat and direct sunlight for 4 days. To my surprise, the bugs wiped off effortlessly. This is a great 1-2 punch for the windshield. Behavior in rain is awesome too and the Aquapel pushes a year in durability.

I've used steel wool to clean the outside of the glass with good results. I would not use it on the inside though as I'm not sure that side is pure glass.

I use aquapel and you can make your own rainx washer by adding regular rain x to our fluid if it's on special it's cheaper than the fluid since you dilute about a cup in regular fluid.

I like it. But doesn't that mark up the paint in spots after some time? I would think the movement from the head-wind on the highway, no matter how slight, would eventually do a number on the paint?

You'll love it. Amazon has like 6 applicators for $23. The applicators are one time use. You squeeze the "wings" and this cracks a glass vial inside the applicator and soaks the felted face of the applicator.

You just do a cross hatch pattern with the applicator-- up down and side to side a few times, then wipe the residual away while it's still wet. It may look smudgy when done. Give it a few minutes. Some of the smudgy will dissipate (or "flash" away). What does not dissipate, give it a good wipe with a paper towel until it's all gone. Enjoy the clarity.

It’s such a tight fit it doesn’t move, have one on my wife’s Jetta TDI and her bumper looks great still

I never understood front end bra's. Sure it may preserve the paint and prevent scratches or chips, but the vehicle looks terrible (in my opinion) the entire time you drive. What's it matter if the paint underneath is pristine if it's covered up all the time?!

it makes me a lot more happy to look at a brand new front end every winter than a front end with huge scrapes and scratches because of bugs. Personally it’s not so bad once the license plate is on there, depending on your vehicle color of course. Black truck with the bra is barely noticeable.

Mine killed an owl once :( (more like it committed suicide by swooping right in front of me) took out a good chunk of the stock grill so I took the opportunity to go with an new one.

I know that is not helpful to the thread haha. I was thinking of trying that ceramic stuff Facebook keeps pushing at me....
