Anyone have an idea why my 2016 Limited s volume is much lower than the 2014 I traded. They both have the same JBL system. thanks

On my ex’s focus, i did an update to her audio control module and it noticeably made the aux input volume quieter ‍♂️
Could just he a software change to reduce the chance of it blowing a speaker or some such

I think every few years Toyota keeps neutering the JBL system. My 2009 Taco would BOP, my 2014 still sounds good but it does not have nearly as much power as the 2009 truck did. I heard a lot of people were extremely disappointed with the 2016+ jbl system compared to earlier taco years.

You could try updating the radio but I cannot say for sure if it will help you. I know OEM Audio Plus finally has a plug/play system for the 16+ jbl system. It's going to cost you some good coin, but it may be one of your only options to get good powerful sound and retain the factory head unit. EDIT: NVM, I guess they are still developing this system for the JBL radios..

it's probably a similar sized amp, but the louder you turn the volume up, the flatter everything starts to sound. If you look at the speakers they are pretty pathetic. But they do sound pretty good for what they are. My 2009 I could rock out at like 28 volume, on my truck now I have to have it at like 38, and any higher than that it starts killing the bass so it's pretty flat sounding. I am working on sound deadening right now so I will see how much an improvement that has.

    2014.
I have also thought about finding a 2005-2008 jbl amp, and see if it's plug/play. Maybe it will help.

They are a slight upgrade from the reg sound system is my guess, just like the JBL from all other model years.
