I had some time to work on the new truck a bit after work.
    1. Added two d-rings to the front bed bolts so I could..
    2. Finish my plywood rack, the new d-rings allow me to anchor the plywood rack to the bed.
    3. Install Rokblokz mud flaps, these things are great. 5 stars.
    4. Install the predator tube steps that have been sitting in the garage for the last 3 weeks.
    5. Carwash!
    6. Pictures.

While I was under the truck I noticed a few rusty spots on the frame, is this normal for these trucks? I have had it for < 2 months.

PS the TRD/KO2/Rokblokz/predator combo looks great.

I’ve had rust spots on undercarriage parts on all of my new trucks including the Tacomas. Rust on bare metal and painted frames, leaf springs, hubs, nuts and bolts, etc.

Spray it with a rattle can and get under there for a few minutes every once in a while. That’s easy, clean and cheap to do.

If you live where salt is used on the roads, more recommendations will follow below.

Thanks for the information. They use massive amounts of salt on the roads around where I live.
The dealer was trying to talk me into purchasing a coating for the underside of the truck. It was extremely expensive and I did not think cars these days needed it. I have never purchased it for any of my new cars.
I had a BMW for about 4 years and did not have any issues with it. I was never crawling under it, so perhaps I just never noticed.
    Anyhow thanks for the recommendation.

It was also said that the factory waxy coating doesn't stick to the weld material and it has a rust-colored appearance. I have that in a couple spots.

Love the plywood rack. You've inspired me to make one. I think I might add hinges as marked (red on top, blue underneath) so I can fold it up into the bed.

That is a great idea, it would also make it easier to store in my already crowded garage.
