I spent hours today reading through the each packages' details. I have always known I'd order a new Tacoma and that time is near.

I have read about a Tacoma Pro and Baja. I do not see references either on Toyota website. Are they no longer or not yet available?

I went to a few dealers in hopes they could give me a few more "hidden" options to get a more customized ride. But they were useless. After a few hours reading I knew more than they did about the Tacoma.

For now it looks like it will be a TRD offroad DC in Red or white.

So what exactly is your question? If you are only asking if they are available, I have heard only a few PROs are being made, but I wouldn't say they are unavailable.

I think there are both a "pro" and "baja" threads. That might give you a bit more of what's avail. Good luck.

If it were up to me, I'd buy a base model and put the extra money into parts myself. You'll come out with a more capable truck and it'll probably cost a lot less.

This. The only thing that makes TRD Editions worth it to me is the upgraded seats and interior options which may be harder to get that aesthetic parts and suspension. So a base built up is not a bad idea

Yes that is my question. How are they obtained? I didn't see a way to specify them in the ordering process. How do they differ from the standard package offerings available from the main website?

I think TRD Pro & TX Baja are the same thing, meaning same mechanicals. The livery on the outside of course is a bit different. I'm not huge into graphics like seen on the Baja and Ford Raptors as an example. So for the same money I would rather have the TRD Pro, if not just for that super badass inferno color, and the fact of no tacky graphics along the bedside.

Also I believe 2014 might be the last year for the Baja theme. You might get luck still and find one sitting on a lot someplace, but might not.

Yes, this would be my typical MO. However, I am not sure of all the pieces and parts required, not required. What would I lose/gain in short, I don't know what I don't know about all that goes into the different models and what parts I would end up adding myself.

So, by ordering what I want now, it comes turn-key and I can mod or upgrade and hell, that's part of the fun.

Buy a TRD off road and add icon suspension and your own rims and tires for about 4k less than the TRD pro. If you are on a budget then get an SR5 and do the same thing.

Tacoma 33 ko2 basic revtec lift. Tire carrier, snorkel many more hopefully coil overs and Eaton e lockers in the future. 4Runner. TRD Pro shocks and coil over. Waiting on trd wheels skid plate and pro grille
Trd pro inferno looks sick. I think the pro the shocks are retuned from what I've heard. Not 100% sure. I'm getting the pro over the baja just the fact of the new inferno color and the grill. There's a red baja for sale in Oregon that I was originally going to purchase. Here's the dealers site. But it's inly an acces can auto. Try autotrader. My local dealer on Maui is selling a used 2011 baja for 31k. Crazy.

If I remember correctly TRD Pros have the faux hood scoop while the TX Baja doesn't.

That's the only thing I don't like about the Pro. I feel like when Toyota started putting scoops on everything from Rav4's, 4Runners etc.. they played that entire theme out. It was a trend that should have died in 2005.

I was actually stuck between an MGM Sport, DC and my SSM, Off-Road, and I just kept coming back to the sport thinking how silly the scoop looked. All of my domestic truck humping buddies surely would have given me grief over the feature for sure.

Yeah, yeah, I know I could have possibly made money selling or trading the scoop, but didn't really want to have to deal with that.

Yes, TRD pro is available and in only three colors(Inferno, Black and white). From what I know so far they are making only 1500 Taco supremes this year. No dealer will discount much and forget about dealer trade.

the TRD pro took the place of the Baja, there is NO LIMIT to the number that will be made, so just go order exactly what you want and wait for it.

and seriously GTFO here with the "If it were me I'd buy a base model and upgrade - more capabilty, more this more that"... no one cares, I bought my Baja and put a TRD supercharger on it - Yes I could have bought a base model truck and twin turbo charged it and lifted it and had it running on ethanol for about the same price, but guess whos not going to cover that under warranty....

For all of you peeps saying:

First that's not what he was asking, so it's irrelevant to this thread. And second, that may be your opinion (again which is irrelevant) but it might not be the opinion of others.

It's way to easy to get these threads WAY off topic when everyone always says "why don't you just go buy a SR5 and build it yourself bla bla bla..."

To the OP, as far as I know, the only real difference between the Baja and Pro is some cosmetic changes like the grill and interior flair and the front suspension on the Pro has the reservoir where the Baja does not.

As for ordering one, I'd call a few dealers as others have suggested and see which one is the most accommodative/helpful.

    Good luck!

Agreed and we need a proper pic and review of this badass Supercharged Baja. That's got to be a hell of a toy

I understand that building up from base is irrelevant, but that is assuming he has already considered that option. I think its important to let OP know base building is a feasible and cheaper option, but letting him know is about as far as it should go. So I don't think it is absurd to mention unless someone is downtalking the option of buying a TRD. The warranty part is a good point though, its simply stating the pros and cons of such a large decision
