Got my shackle flip kit installed this weekend. Good for about another 2" of droop and utilizing the full 12" of those rear shocks.

Got me a URD true cold air intake just in time for a quick pismo trip.

Cleaned up the engine bay a fair bit. Fresh tires out in the dunes were amazing. Intake makes the s/c just about obnoxiously loud outside the truck, but luckily it is barely any louder inside the cab. Went for a small amount of air time, and hit a small section of whoops at a reasonable speed. Not built for much more than I put it through, but glad I tested it out.

Nice build man! I have nearly the same setup and the rest on the way this weekend. I'm doing the 12" Kings, BAMF relocate, SOS Shackle flip, 5" XJ shackles and all pro ubolt flip in a few weeks.

I plan on doing it all in one sweep and remove the bed like you did.

Have fun in Sedona and I'll hopefully make a trip up there again soon. I know I'll be up there in May for sure at the Expo.

yeah after a few hundred miles through the desert, i definitely want some more ride height and just ordered me some new shackles myself. super happy with how everything has come out. right now missing my fab tools and a garage, hopefully remedied this summer and can build me some skids and if I can come up with something i like, a higher clearance rear bumper w/ tire gate. not too happy with anything i have seen or thought of yet.

lived in the phx area for 3 years in the past and visited the flag area a lot the last few years, just recently moving here, so pseudo familiar with a good portion of the state. hit me up anytime you want to meet up or need help with something. limited school/ work hrs right now, but 3 weddings to deal with this summer. I am always down for a quick weekend trip though so long as I am not busy, and have family in the phx area, so will be visiting them every so often.

Pretty much, give me a good excuse to travel a few hrs throughout the state and I will most likely be down

I do all of the work with Brandon at Avid Off-road down here in Gilbert. I live about 2 miles N of the shop.
We plated my frame in a few weeks ago in preparation for the rest of the work. Everything should ship tomorrow I hope. We are 1st starting with a revalve on the rears. I'm adding a flutter stack and making it a bit more suited to carry weight.

I have recently come to love the hybrid look and we will start on the bumpers sometime in the coming months. I'm still on the fence for skids. Aluminum vs Steel. I'm not trying to add a ton of weight but I'm just not sure of the strength of aluminum over steel.

from being in the motocross world, either run steel or thick delrin (plastic). there was a rock crawler build i saw over a year ago that used i want to say 1.5" delrin for his skids. very light, but very thick. I need to do mine once i get my fab tools out here this summer. I am probably going to go with 3/16 for the main pieces with either 3/16 or 1/8 scraps, depending on what i have lying around for supports and should be plenty good for most rigs. unless you are a dedicated rock crawler, 3/16 should be just fine. got 2 buddies up here splitting tools/ supplies as payment for me working on my own fab skills, in trade for building them bumpers/ sliders. a win, win for me

It was either 3/16 or 1/4 skids. I'll keep digging I really don't want to jump to 700# coils. I just sold mine and I'd like to keep that weight up front low. The hybrid design we are thinking we can keep it under 80lbs with winch. We are going to relocate the battery under the bed as well. I've got a ton of room now that I removed the spare tire crossmember

I work in IT but the work I'm doing with my truck under Brandons supervision makes me want to change careers.

yeah, my front bumper is about 65 lbs. and when i do skids, i am going to do 3/16. hit a jeep head on 2 years ago at about 15 mph over tday weekend out in ocotillo wells, and barely dented in my front main bumper skid with his winch. i had a tear in my license plate and he had a crooked winch. happy with how well 3/16 held up with what i plan on needing skids for. support them properly and you and i should both be happy.

can't wait for me to have a garage and tools this summer

Did you use a carbide bit to make a guide hole and then swap to a bigger bit to get the rivet out? I've heard that age of the truck is also a big factor and a lot of guys soak them down with WD or penetrating oil to help the process.
I'm not too concerned about the rivets because my truck is a year old and we've already removed the spare tire crossmember. I haven't decided if I will leave the shackle flip bolted or weld it up yet.

Used a smaller bit to start and then went to the larger bit, but didn't drill all the way through. Just tried to drill the heads off to pop the rivets out. They just put up a fight for me so I said f*ck it and welded the flip kit on.

Didn't have the bed off when I did the flip kit. Only for the bamf Shock relocation. Did my flip kit about a month later. But it is nice working with the be off. So much more room to accses everything

Tax Return showed up today....and only took a few hours to hit up ecgs. Re-gearing finally coming soon!!!! Also installed some longer shackles today to add a little ride ht and hopefully help out through whoops. Pics to come as a trip post gearing will likely happen.
