Thought about it but it’s like 30 min or so from Ouray which is one of my wife and I’s favorite places. Gonna be a quick trip but booked a room for the night next weekend

Things I love about this truck. Hasn’t moved in 5 weeks. Wife’s drunk and bored. Turn key, 40mph average and we do 30-ish mile real quick to make her happy. Everything feels great.

Started getting them mounted. Basically mounting as close to the floor as possible and gained some much needed head room for myself or taller passengers and the cage. Rear mounts are done and sort simple. Have an idea for the front that shouldn’t take too long to whip up. But probably not for a few weeks. Just had a quick break today from other projects to at least get the old seats out and get started on these.

Cinders takeover was a success. Sent the truck about 10ft bigger/further than ever before.

OMG i haven’t been to the Cinders since the last year they ran the Cinder Rally back in the late 60’s early 70’s. I believe (don’t quote me) when a Class 1 buggy hit a pine tree and literally pulled the tubing in half! The welds held with the 3 way gussets but again with the contact with the tree it just pulled the tubing in two pieces. Apparently the buggy hit a whoop that sent the buggy airborne up on its side and contacted the tree. I was able to see the buggy before the officials were able to cover the buggy and take it away. Apparently the promoter didn’t have the required insurance for the event and the forest service shut down the event. They had Hill climbs, 4 wheel and 2 wheels the same for the drags and cross country races. My father did the cross country race on a just out new Husky (Husqvarna) 400 he purchased the bike from an old high school friend in Ohio. He had a pouch that held his ticket stubs for the check points that must be collected. Apparently he came to close the a bush or something that ripped the pouch off. He when went back to the pouch and placed the stubs between his lips and continued. The officials were looking all over his body for the pouch he mumbles put them in my lips. Then he pulled forward about 50 yards to top of with fuel. We collected the check point stubs and laid them on a towel to dry as the wind was blowing pretty good. The sad part was the air filter fell off during the race. You know cinders are noting but fine rock. He came across the finish he let the RPM’s dropped and the engine seized up. The guy that was leading in the open class couldn’t get up the big hill so he had to take the long way around to reach the top of the hill. You could go up the long steep hill or go around. After Husky heard what had happened they gave my father a new engine. His friend owned a Husky dealership and his son was a professional racer.
*Edit* The bike was a European spec bike. The shifter and rear foot brake were on the opposite side of American spec bikes. The kick start was on the left side too. I never could ever get the hang of the bike. Plus it had so much power that when I would try to ride it I had to use the hottest spark plugs available because otherwise the plug would foul out within 10 to 15 minutes. That bike was a beast. Dad later on got me an 125 Honda Elsinore. Anyone remember them?
I tried to see if I could find some information about the accident that took the life of the person or persons in the race but I couldn’t find anything but I did find this. Check out the old off road vehicles!

It’s sweet. Tube chassis, center mount front and 4 link rear. Needs a bigger shock package and bigger tires imho. But was nice to finally see it out in the cinders getting driven.

Truck looks so good and clean after getting detailed haha. Sad to say I did have to air up to “street” pressure for the first time in over 2 years. Trucks been a trailer queen but this weekend makes more sense to drive it down and have the wife follow
