Well to top off an already shitty day..Here's what happened to my truck on the way home from work:(....

Driver of a flatbed Ford attempted to make a speedy uturn in the middle of traffic. I was entering the turning lane as he was pulling into (or looked like he was pulling into) the parking lot of a small bar. As the thought "is this dumbass just gonna hop the curb?" rolled through my head he threw it into reverse and clobbered my truck as i was coming to a stop at the stop light.

Long story short..My truck was already totaled due to hail damage around this same time last year, and there's a very good chance he does not have insurance. So not totally sure how this is going to play out.

 Sorry about your truck. Were the police called? Got any witnesses? Is WY a "no-fault" state when it comes to insurance? I hope you can get things fixed up! hate to see a 1st gen down :(

Well we exchanged info and i had a very fishy feeling cause he didn't want to call the police so i called them as soon as he left and we kinda got it sorted out. Sheridan being the small town it is, the officer knows him so he obviously has a record and he is quite positive he has no insurance. There were people all over but one guy was nice enough to stop and he gave me a phone number and name and everything. Also not totally sure on WY's policies, i'm a totaly n00b in terms of accidents and such. The officer told me to get a quote and drop it off at the PD and he said he'd give me a call tomorrow after he made our flatbedded friend a visit. Kinda hard to say whats gonna happen at this point.

Yeah hoping for the best. Worst case scenario is I start looking for a new cab and attempt a swap.

Well nothing spectacular happening yet...Officer called me a few days ago and asked me to come to the police station to identify some pictures of the guy that hit me but conveniently i was on my way to work and my boss wouldn't stop at the police station for me cause 'we had places to be'

Got a quote from a body shop the following day to drop off at the PD and the damage was around $5k. Still waiting to hear back from the officer to figure out the plan of action here. But kinda thinking i'm SOL since my truck only had liability and a salvaged title. Hopefully the dipshit that hit me gets what's coming to him.

5k for a new cab? Sounds a little on low side. Lesson learned, always call police at any accident.

I figured it would be a lot more honestly. My hail damage was around 6k. But yeah most definitely. I guess in Wyoming if the damage exceeds 1k then by law you have to call the police. I didn't know this being my first collision so the officer was totally cool about it. I was shaken up at the sight of my truck and wasn't thinking clearly but I will know that for future reference.

If you find that a repair shop wants to just weld in that section, let me know. I got a '98 xcab that I'm parting out. That section is in good shape on mine.

Haha man that would be awesome..It'll probably remain like this for a while until i get a chance to attempt beating some of it out so you got plenty of time to look for a cab ;) i'd be more than happy to take that one off your hands when the time comes!

^Cool... the timelines might work out. You never know...

You should probably buy my sliders too then! (That would've probably prevented most your damage)

I know it man! My sliders are in the process of being built so I'm kinda bummed I didn't have them. They would have helped I'm sure.

Yeah i guess you could consider that an upside to living in a smaller town lol. Haven't heard anything in a few days but hopefully something good will come out of it.
