Getting bored with my truck, anyone move from a Taco to a 4runner? Thoughts? I have 2 kids and don't use the bed very often so it seems the 4R could be a better fit for me.

The interior of the 4Runner feels similar to the 4 door taco. Of course there’s another row. The bed just adds more value imo.

Yes, I went from 2nd gen Tacoma to 4th gen 4Runner and no regrets at all. I did it for my lack of need for a bed and for my dog to roam around in the cargo area with the window down. Now have a 5 month old and still love the cabin room. Knowing I can toss whatever I need in the cargo area instead of a bed and it not get wet or stolen. 4Runner > Tacoma 100%

4Runners also the better option if you have kids. But if you need a bed for any reason and get a 4Runner, you'll regret it. The new 4Runners are sweet though.

My view is if you don't need an open bed, its a better vehicle.

I made the switch to a 4runner and I'm very happy I did. The interior feels larger to me and I don't feel like I punishing people by making them sit in the second row. My dog loves that the window rolls down in the back too.

The transmission is an ancient 5 speed, but it feels a hell of a lot better than the tacomas.

I have both a 16 Taco & 16 4Runner. The stock suspension is soft on the 4Runner and so I got Bilstein 6112 front/5100 rear & Eibach's Pro-Lift rear coil set. Installed Michelin Defenders on the 4 conners and it handles the street and bush really well.

I've got the Tacoma version of this, and I'm happy with it, but damn the Cavalry 4Runner Pro looks sweet.

Do it! You can't go wrong with a 4Runner if you don't need a pick-up truck bed. I've had both and prefer a Taco, but our kids are the furry kind who can ride in back of a pick up

I have both. our 2017 4runner is a way better vehicle that the tacoma in every area. If we only knew this we would have bought the 4runner to begin with instead of the tacoma. Handles way better. soaks up bumps on freeways that would make you white knuckle it in the tacoma at high speed. we both have the sr5 models and 4x4 but her sr5 premium has a-trac and down hill assist. It also is shorter than the tacoma but feels bigger.

The engine is so smooth and responsive!

You can't go wrong trading up to a 4runner except that your payment will go up since it costs more than the tacoma and the possibility you may be upside down. I have had my 2016 tacoma since the end of 2015 when they first came out. I'm not going to get rid of it since i only have 2 years to go before i have the pink slip.

my wife says that our 4runner seems to have more room and she feels less cramped in the 4runner.

I went from a second gen to a 2018 4Runner offroad premium. I love my Runner as it fulfills all of the shortfalls of my Tacoma. More space, better seats, more comfortable for long drives, and a sleeker interior. The quality (Japan-4R vs TX/Mexico-Taco) is night and day. My bf says he feels the 4runner is more maneuverable. We both had second gen Tacomas at some point.

Getting a top of the line(without going Pro) 4Runner for invoice pricing was a good selling point too.

I traded off my Tacoma for the 4runner. Better vehicle all around. Only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. For needing a bed......bought a small beater truck.....best of both worlds!

I have a 16 T4R Pro and an 18 TRD OR. I love them both for different reasons but the 4Runner is definitely a more premium vehicle. I bout the Taco because I need the bed more than the covered cargo space. By the way, the T4R pro is for sale if anyone is interested. Only problem is I’m located in Hawaii.

I agree 100%, but my problem is first I'll have a beater truck with a bed. Then I need something smaller (Car) for better MPG, then I want something a little sportier to run around on the weekend. I did this with motorcycles recently and had 5 at one time. Fully dressed cruiser, light cruiser, sport bike, adventure bike, toy Grom for fun. Gets outta control fast, I need to stop reading about how great the 4Runner is.

definitely more back seat space in a T4R. It's not a bad choice but you could get bored in that truck too.

You can always get a small trailer to pull
behind the 4Runner if you need more
hauling capacity. I like the 4Runner,
but like my truck better, everyone has different needs, both are fine
    rides.
