Relax big guy, this was what you call a joke. We do that to laugh around here it’s quite entertaining. As a person who has been to both China and Japan numerous time I was never almost killed in Japan by a car going up on the sidewalk to make a turn to avoid traffic. And I’ll ask @jimbro did I offend you good sir? Judging by the fact you live in Hawaii you found the statement funny.

It’s not a joke because of your personal experience (which no one knows about). It’s a “joke” because it’s a racial stereotype.

I’m sure you’ll argue political correctness, etc. and how it wasn’t meant to offend. But I’m not some kid in an office who has to awkwardly laugh at his boss’s off color and ignorant joke. Casual racism exists in many forms. You can choose to exacerbate or help remedy the problem.

We have both. My wife drives a 2016 4Runner SR5 with an ICON Stage 4 lift and I have a 2018 Taco DCSB OR with Kings. IMO they're both great vehicles that serve different purposes and are aimed at different markets. The Taco is a truck - it drives and feels like one, and has all the benefits of a truck. The 4Runner is a SUV - it drives and feels like one, and has all the benefits of a SUV.

My buddies wife will not get rid of her forester for nothing. He keeps trying to get her a Honda pilot. The love of a Subaru owner is real. Her forester is old as hell and smells like a biohazard cause she picks shells all the time and forgets to take them out.

They're pretty great with the exception of UCA ball joint squeaks. Damn things are a PITA to keep squeak-free.

She’s had a that. You can hear here coming up the street sometimes. The thing has like 270k on the dial it was her moms car, then her college car. College was 12 years ago lol. The green paint isn’t in bad shape it’s just the squeaks and the smell. When I move to the mainland in a year an a half I want to get one as a daily.

All I’m saying... don’t be a stereotype yourself. Most people assume a Tacoma message board is full of ignorant rednecks. I know that isn’t the case and just want to ensure it isn’t.

End of story. No ill will here. Hatchet buried.

But I am a Hawaii country kid who grew up on cattle and coffee ranches. And I surf so I am my stereotype driving a Tacoma. Stereotypes are there for a reason. And you should be able to make fun of one another in a playful manor. That is how you make racism and stuff funny. Where I grew up school teachers would send a quick one at you growing up and everyone would laugh. In my whole life where caucasians are not the majority in fact there is no majority, everyone is minorities in Hawaii I have never felt racism once not even from the older Hawaiians. We got to that point by playful banter and not being offended. Just giving you the back story of Hawaii’s way of dealing with this. It’s all good bro carry on and enjoy the forum there’s a lot of good stuff here.

Generally speaking, what are the most common complaints of 5th gen 4R owners? We have low powered engine and uncomfortable seats and the auto transmission. What do they complain about?

My honest only complaint is that the interior is dated. It’s basiclly the same interior from my 2011.

My only issue is the price, I wish it could be cheaper but having a quality 4x4 built in Japan that will last several hundred thousand miles cost money.
