Has anyone made the jump from Tacoma to Tundra and and found their way back? How come?

Asking because I sold my 2016 Tacoma in the fall and purchased a 23 Tundra crew. The tundra is an amazing truck but I just miss my beloved Tacoma. However, with two kids the Tundra back seat is way more comfortable.

2 kids? If in car seats, I wouldn’t even consider the Tacoma for a daily.

Yep! Ages 4 and 2 so they'll be in them for a while. Maybe when they're out I'll get a 5th gen Tacoma. Bahah

Tacoma generation redesigns seem to be between 8-10 years. Your kids should be out of car seats in time for you to get a 4th Gen if you want.

My dad went from 2ng gen taco to tundra to 3rd Gen Taco. He only got the tundra to tow and went back to a taco when he didn't need to tow anymore.

I have a 3rd Gen with two kids in car seats. One forward facing and the other rear facing. It's tight but we make it work.

Taco, Taco, Taco, Tundra, Taco… that’s my history with these things up to today but going Tundra shopping tomorrow.
The Taco is fun off road but otherwise too small for my needs. Was hoping the 4gen would be a little bigger, oh well…

    Kids grow up fast!
Next thing you know they are in booster seats and the following week they are borrowing your keys to go see a movie with friends.

    Get a Tacoma again:thumbsup:

I had a 2013 tacoma and traded for a tundra I drove for 5 years. The only issue for me was the tundra didn’t fit in my garage.
I got a new 2022 trd Tacoma and couldn’t be happier. All were great trucks but this one is the best of them as far as meeting my wants, needs and looks.

You either need a Tundra, or you don't. I owned a 2nd Gen for ten years. Sold it immediately after my needs changed. Simply way too big.

    No.
I wanted a new Hilux, had to settle for a 23 Tacoma (much bigger).
Tundra is never on the radar, for a variety of reasons, including size.

4Runner to Tundra to Taco. My current ratings between the three is Taco, 4Runner then Tundra.

I totally agree with the overall opinions here. My Tacoma was a perfect lifestyle truck for me. Hauled motocross bikes, mountain bikes, towed some trailers during some moves, and carried copious amounts of materials for DIY projects.

Once we had two car seats in the back it became a bit of a hassle. Although I only lost $4k between the purchase of my Tacoma in 2016 and a trade in during 2023, if I could go back in time I may have just kept her. I don't need anything besides the back seat space. Maybe I could have lived with that a bit longer. It also sounds like there is one more inch of rear leg room in the 4th gen Taco?

Hopefully Toyota has some pretty good rebates on the Tacomas down the road. The cost of a Tacoma and Tundra are pretty close now a days. If I get a deal thrown my way I may jump.

Here was my Taco and here is my Tundra.

The real question is when guys sell their Tundra for a Tacoma do they post on TundraWorld:

“Thanks for everything guys but I’m moving on to a Tacoma. I love the TundraWorld community, but after 8 months I have to admit the Tundra just isn’t the truck for me. I’ll still check in from time to time. All the best, Randy”

I have 2 kids in car seats, and my daily is the tacoma. its tight, but we make it work. I would love to get a bigger truck, but i just hate buying cars and having a car payment...plus only another year or 2 before they are out of the seats anyways

If I could go back in time I would have likey done just this. I think it would be fine in the back for kids in booster seats. I'm about 5-6 years away from this, however.

I believe your doctor can prescribe you a new Tundra 4x4 with a 5 inch lift and 37's for that. If you're polite to the assistant you can ask for the diesel motor upgrade.
