Honestly, I didn't look at 33s because of the rubbing issues folks on here have with them. Didn't want to have to cut/trim/bend/etc to run a tire that's going to make my gas milage even worse. Besides, I've got a JK on 35" MTs if I need to get somewhere my Taco won't go

The pic with my Carve was taken on the Katy Trail just west of St. Charles in MO. To be honest, I'm just getting back into riding as an attempt to get my fat ass back into some semblance of shape. Right now if I do 15mi of trail riding at 13MPH, I'm done for the day. Still working on building my stamina and strength. Greatly appreciate the offer for a ride tho! Thanks Leonel. Had the same problem with my local dealer. Ended up ordering the wheels from Sparks Toyota in NC. Not sure why they can get them, but not sure I want to know

Man I'm so leery about plasti dip. What did you think?

 

It was actually really easy to do. I started with just one door emblem and ended up redoing it a second time before I got it right. The first time around I didn't put heavy enough coats on, so even after 4 coats it was thin. Second time around I did moderately heavy coats and it came out much better. I let it dry for a couple hours and just peeled the overspray away and it peeled around the letters perfectly. It was seriously a bit like magic Then I used a pair of tweezers to get the dip out of the centers of the letters (O and A). It's held up to a couple car washes and a decent number of highway miles.

Still got at least half a can left. You're welcome to it if you want to try it out!

Quick question or two for you, if you can please help me out.

I want to run nearly the same suspension setup as you (maybe the 886 instead of the 885 for use with a ARB bumper) and have the same wheel/tire setup.

1. What is your center hub to fender measurement for your truck.
2. Any issues with the beadlocks rubbing the aftermarket UCAs without spacers? I don't like the idea of using a spacer if I don't have to.

 

I'll get out today and get the measurements for you. No rubbing whatsoever with 265/75s on the TRD beadlocks.

 

Hub center to fender measurements:

Front: 23.5"
Rear: 24"

Give or take a quarter inch, I wasn't real precise with the center of the hub. Also keep in mind that's with the overload leaf removed from the Dakar pack.

BTW - the ride is soooooo much better than stock. You'll really like the OME setup!

 

No worries. I was at:

Front: 20 1/4"
Rear: 22"

So I am looking at just over 3 inches. Time to measure the garage!

Thanks man! The Coopers are awesome in the snow. I've got all grip I want when I drive respectably, and not too hard to break loose when I want to play. Great mix between the traction of an AT and the look of a MT. Would definitely pick them again.

Thanks man. The OMEs have been great. Much better ride than stock, and very capable. I get much less rear wheel hop on washboard with the new setup.

 

Did you remove any of the leafs on the dakars? And did you run into any vibe issues?

 

Yep, I removed the overload leaf. I don't tow or haul much and I wanted to get rid of as much of the rake as possible.

Absolutely no vibrations. The OME kit has performed amazingly well and, to me, rides far better than the stock TRD OR setup.

 

hmmmmm I have an access cab and am going to do the same lift. But I also have a shell with racks, and tow a trailer with dirtbikes every now and again....

Do you think I would benefit leaving that leaf in, or would it get by still removing the overload leaf? I dont want to end up with the rake look.

 

Sounds like you've got a lot more variables than I had. I would think if you're regularly towing or hauling, you'd want the overload leaf, but I'm honestly not sure. Sounds like a great question for an experienced 4x4 shop. Sorry I'm not more help
