Got an update for all my gear jam'n (manual transmission) brothers out there!

Don't get too excited just yet, but here is what we have going on.

We manufacture billet aluminum Dual Case adapters for older Pickups/4Runners (aka the MC08, more info) in batches of 50. The problem we keep having, it's a good problem but bad problem, is the time required to machine, anodize, and assemble generates 50 backorders and the moment they come in they are sold out. The up-front cost of buying fifty large blanks of billet aluminum is not cheap, also USA billet market prices have gone up, so we've been trying to build up to a point where we can manage larger runs, which we have finally managed and are already deep in progress of the largest single MC08 production run of all time :D

While the CNC is tied up, we are using this time to address the issue of too much oil in the TacoBox as well as improving the issues with our current 19-spline 6-speed transmission adapter by finally making the adapter much longer to utilize the strength benefits of our Total-Spline input technology.

So we are working on it... but it's gonna take some time. We should have our large run of MC08 adapters done in 4 to 5 weeks and then we will begin the run of TacoBox rear adapters. So we are hoping to have the TacoBox available again for manual transmission customers by the end of October.

I'll keep this thread updated with more info as we get further into this next production run

We are still building TacoBoxes for Automatic applications. These two sexy bois went out last Friday: One for a 4L auto and one for a 3.4L auto, both with our Japanese-made 4.70:1 gearing :hattip:

Negative. My above post only applies to manual setups.

I should have known... Automatic owners... Not knowing what "gear jam'n" means  I have updated my previous reply for clarity

    @BigMike

Curious, what is the machined piece in the lower part of the transmission adapter? (Orange arrows) Looks like where the oiling hole is that allows increased oil capacity to the transmission extension housing cavity.

Thanks for the question. We are testing different oil flow rates to reduce oil transfer from transmission tailhousing to Crawl Box under full acceleration. We now have more than 6 months of gathering info to help get manual setups back into production.

Since BigMike was here today, I'll post this up in case anyone hasn't seen it already. I'm having a local shop make a 23 spline female to 22 spline male coupling that will bolt the tacobox to the 6 speed manual transmission. I will have pricing for it today or tomorrow which is largely based on quantity. If anyone, including Marlin wants in, I'm happy to have you. I would love to have Marlin's input into the adapter to make sure it's right.

Good to know. Hoping to get an order in for my 6 speed as soon as they're available.

@BigMike @Marlin Crawler I'd love to pay now to take advantage of the Hot August 10% off sale if that's an option. That's a nice discount for the crawl box.

Hey @BigMike, still on track to get taco boxes out for manuals by the end of this month?

I'm just hoping there is "complete" taco box setup for us manual trans fellas....I know we have to source driveshafts etc. But with this spline adapter & seal sleeve extension needed just to get tacobox in the truck.

I'm totally ready to blow some bucks after holidays if this new setup is a true bolt in setup, minus drive shafts of course.

The reoccurring theme is the coupler from Marlin is wrong. @Littles had a few machined to fit our transmissions, he should have a few extra still available for sale.

I’d love a manual transmission Taco Box update from Marlin. I mean even if it’s just to say they’re behind schedule or there’s nothing new to update, that’s better than nothing. It’s a bit frustrating to throw $2k down and walk away without hearing where it’s going, ya know?

I ordered 5 adapters from my machine shop, but so far they only made two and I'm still on the hook for 3 more. One of them is yours, @hoverlover, assuming you still want it. The working prototype is installed in my truck with about 2K miles and I have one that needs modification sitting on the counter. The other three will be made as soon as I can to muster up the motivation to pull my cases again so they can make some minor modifications to my design based off the one in my truck that I already modified. I also have detailed measurements of the oil seal extension housing if anyone needs them. That's a much easier, cheaper part to make than the coupling.

So if those are the only two things you're worried about, then rest assured it can be done. You just need the crawlbox and the oil seal from Marlin. Those are the same regardless of transmission. Might even be able to get the seal elsewhere but as far as I know they are available from Marlin.

For all you manual transmission guys that are waiting for a solution, I updated my thread on the 22 to 23 spline adapters and the oil seal extension housing that are transmission specific. If I can find 3 people who want these adapters by February, the shop will still honor my original commitment to buy 5 and I can still get them at a cost of $600 each plus the takes I paid. My design works and it takes advantage of the extra length of the Total Spline input on the crawl box.

Marlin said they're 18-20 weeks behind on Taco Boxes.
    Longer for the manual boxes.
