dont have any way to hold it still while i strike it.

edit. going to try and bring it to work with me tomorrow and im sure we have at least one piece of heavy equipment that can hold it still.... just have to watch over my shoulder if you know what i mean. once i get it bent back I still need to weld a cross brace in there to add strength so it doesnt just do it again.

Yeah, I need to look at my ifs skid and see if I there's clearance to add a brace. Otherwise I think it's going to be an ongoing process.

Took the transfer case skid to work today, found the very large dent that was in it causing the rest of the tweak in mounting and the rubbing on the exhaust and transfer case itself. Pinned it down and introduced it to Mr. 8lbs sledge hammer repeatedly. At first I don't think they got along together, but after a few tries towards it, they became good friends and worked happily together. Then got my pneumatic cut off wheel out and trimmed around where the rerouted exhaust pipe runs to add additional clearance. Also decided to just play it safe and cut (2) 1/4" shims in case i need to space the rear of the skid down when re-installing it for additional clearance on the transfer case. Still need to come up with a way to cross brace the legs but i have it at least to the point where it should be ready to mount and offer as good of protection as it did before.

pic of the skid after it was cleaned up, bedliner did pretty well because all the scratches where there is no bedliner left there is also a gouge in the metal...

I gotta say, I think that's a bit of a design flaw. I know for sure BudBuilts and I think several other folks that make skids for the Toyota mini platforms make that a solid structural piece. Having it where it's square tube welded to 3/16" sheet, any legit force on them and it's going to deflect. There needs to be square or rectangle tube all the way across to form a true crossmember.

If I had thought about it today, Justin, I would have had a perfect signature picture for you. With all the flexing we did and hill climbs, I'm sure there was something there lol.
