    Running 4.56 on 255/85/16 (33") I'm about 2,600-2700 RPM in the 75-80mph range.

    Not great fuel economy. LoL

Honestly couldn't even tell you anymore. LoL

The RPM range was lower but there was more effort coming from the motor before I regeared. It doesn't work as hard now but runs faster, if that makes sense.

I think so. I am still planning on a regear, without the front locker. Just wanted some opinions

The MPGs suck. But it was worth it. Eventually I'd like to fit 35s which will bring the gearing closer to spec with the 4.56s and therefore lower RPMs slightly.

I thought regear was for MPG and to put less stress on the trans, and to get it back closer to stock gearing, for the size tires

That too. RPMs directly impact fuel use. But being under geared means using more fuel to attain those RPMs. It's all a balancing act. Regardless, you'll never see stock fuel mileage again. LoL

75-80 mph with 33s and stock gears I'm at about 2300-2500 rpm.

Regearing is about getting back the lost power, not the mpg. I'm not expecting to get better mpg after the regear since right now, my cruising rpm is low but the amount of effort it takes to get there is high. After the regear, the effort will be low but cruising rpm will be high.

I'd like the lost power back more than anything...so the 4.56 is where it's at for me because of all the extra weight added. If I didn't have all the extra weight on the truck but only had larger tires, I'd go 4.10s for the best of both worlds (power & mpg).

I'm considering going with a taller skinnier tire which will bring the cruising rpms down a bit and have less rolling resistance.

I have a hybrid front bumper, winch, high clearance plate with swingout, full steel armor, bed rack, tent (on tuesday), and 255/85/16s. Think 4.56 is a good choice?

Yes, definitely. And the 255/80/17 tire is what I was looking at next since they're a bit taller than the 285/70/17. You have the tall skinnys so your cruising rpm should be better.

No, you will need at least 5.29's.

I don't know why, but I get the strangest feeling that something is missing.
