The Tacoma has the highest resale out of any vehicle in the US. It is crazy. That is why I bought my most recent one new, as a few years old were still close to new prices.

Yeah. But that also only has 45k miles and is 17 years old. That’s not a regular 17 year old Tacoma.

People are realizing this trucks go 500-600 miles. So the values are going up

Keep in mind a couple things................

    It's not sold yet.

It's priced so he can 'give' you $2-3k more for your clunker on trade than it's actual value.

While there are some photos of the frame that look ok, it would be worth a full on inspection. Naturally.

It is a nice looking truck and the ad is well presented. If it checks out well, it will bring a good price, just due to the size, style, condition and low miles.

I'd take two of those all day every day over a new one. ;)

I think FJ Cruisers hold that title as far as Toyotas go...in the past few years since they stopped manufacturing them, used ones are going for insane prices on the private market. Seen them being sold with 80k miles for only a few thousand less than they were new in SoCal. It's crazy.

Those prices are insane! While there are a lot of benefits to a truck with low miles, what I think many people don't realize is how much maintenance still needs to go into a truck like that, simply because of age and from not being driven... and with those miles, it's likely been sitting for some time.

A lot of people would though. They weren't really popular while being manufactured but they've grown drastically in popularity in the past few years. See them everywhere out here lately. Plus there's far fewer of them out there being that they weren't as mass produced as Tacomas, making them more valuable in a desirable market. Tacomas are a dime a dozen virtually everywhere (relatively).

I used to hate their looks but they've grown on me, especially when lifted/armored.

That's part of why they didn't sell well when they were being made, poor MPGs in a time when people wanted hybrids and other fuel efficient cars due to the economy.

But yeah whenever I see one, I half expect a giant Lego man to be behind the wheel...they look like lego SUVs lol.

Maybe that should be amended to “in production” vehicles.

It makes sense FJ value would go up, basic supply and demand economics. What doesn’t make sense is when there is crazy Tacoma supply but prices still hold high.

Definitely not worth 17k, in my opinion, as this price would be for a pristine truck AND frame (like california and arizona trucks, which have zero to minimal rust)

I don't want to nit pick, but we can see that there is definitely rust under there, as the toyota undercoat has started to peel off. These frames, they rust from the inside out, so it definitely needs a thorough inspection.
Also, look at the exhaust pipe hangers, e-brake pivot, rusty t-case bolts
Then, in order to qualify to receive the toyota undercoat, wouldn't you need your frame to be already rusty?

The frame may be rusty and still be good, but it's not worth this much, even with the low miles

Dude, your Tacoma is special. I mean, I love mine, but yours? I bet your wife, calls your truck "her competition"!

I doubt this truck will need much of anything. I've owned my Taco for 7 years and 70K miles, for a total of 148K miles. My truck is UP TO DATE on everything, and that is because of mileage and use, not lack of it.
My Taco is not setting any fuel economy records, but I didn't buy it to save gas.

Yes, but things like rubber gaskets, timing belt, etc. start to degrade over time regardless of mileage and may need replaced. It’s not good for vehicles to sit for long periods of time never being driven.

Not on my experience, or that of my two Tacoma owner mechanic. I mean, I'd probably replace both belts and the water pump, for piece of mind, but I've never owned another vehicle (and I've owned a total of 18 vehicles), that the coolant hoses were still working perfectly at 140K + miles and 15 years later.

The rubber used by Toyota, is prime grade A!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Virginia? Frame looks like shit under that undercoating where it's flaked away.. Hopefully nobody's dumb enough to pay that much for it. Would be a really cool if that was an Arizona or Texas truck, but, VA salts the crap outta their roads in winter.
