A buddy of mine was driving on interstate 15 through Utah when a Honda Pilot tried to pass a semi and became the proud new owner of a head on collision. The Tacoma did it’s job and kept my buddy and his girlfriend safe, a few stitches and a broken foot is all from a 60mph head on crash. RIP to this 6speed MT and GFC match made in heaven.

    Oh look, another mod....

Holy shit! That is one violent impact! I'm glad they're okay. RIP to the truck though. She'll be gone, but not forgotten!

Damn. That's a hell of a hit. How'd the pilot handle it?

WOW that's incredible. Glad they made it through with their lives

Pics like this make me nervous how my steel bumper setup would fare in a situation like this

good to know the outcome, can sitting far back mitigate broken foot in this scenario? Maybe I'm being greedy for hoping to walk out relatively unscathed after a 60mph head-on collision

I don’t have any pictures but apparently the Honda flipped and settled on the other side of the highway, but they were ok.

    Nervous for the other car?

You know actually it was his passenger that suffered the broken foot, but to be fair she was sitting on the side that took the greater impact. The driver only had some stitches.

Maybe. The crash looks to be an overlap/offset and those types of accidents typically cause the tire to get shoved into the footwell. IIHS gives it an Acceptable and Good rating - https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicl...ickup/2021#small-overlap-front-passenger-side

Glad they are okay. Looks like the cab mount did its job and deflected the tire and wheel downward.

Damn!! That is insane. Good to know these trucks can handle a crash like that.

Did he have any armor up front or was that just the stock bumper?

From what I've been able to gather, steel bumpers will help tremendously with low speed impacts (i.e. parking lot mishaps). Unclear what will happen in a situation like this. Some say without the stock bumper acting as a crumple zone, more shock will be transferred to frame, occupants, etc. Also not a guarantee that airbags will deploy as they should.

I was just wondering if the Tacoma had a CMC done; this would be a good testimony of the cab mount doing its job even after a chop if so.
