My truck does the EXACT same thing and my truck is a manual. Going up hill or with a minor load at low-mid RPM range you hear an audible knock. It happens soo randomly and intermittently that it is hard to replicate. It is definitely an issue with the truck and not with keeping it in too low of a gear. Its pretty loud, so much so that my wife actually points it out at times and she has no automotive experience whatsoever. I have tried running premium gas, but that doesnt really help.

I didn't go through all of the preceding comments, but has no one remarked here that in the owner's manual it says that a slight, brief knocking/pinging when under acceleration is supposed to be normal for this engine?

That's a great observation and it is good to mention and a detail to keep in mind. Thanks for bringing that to the thread, I don't recall mention that earlier.

Although this is stated within the Owner's Manual, in our case or at least in my case, this is not a slight or brief ping that as stated in the manual. It is a knock loud enough to understand that is not normal. The other aspect to this particular issue is that the engine tends to run roughly; overall. I already schedule a visit to the "stealership" for next week since I didn't knew about the CPS recall. My hopes are that this service fix the timing issue because all the symptoms my truck presents are related to missfires even there is no checkengine light is present. I have stated this to the dealer several times since day one and they've never found "any issue" and they always answer with their "this is totally normal" for these trucks; which we all know is TBS (Total BS).

Well let's see how it goes. As soon as I got it serviced, I will post the results. Let's hope for the best.
