We went with School's First FCU and got 1.49% for 60 months. My credit score was just over 800 at the time. I have not seen or heard of 1% from anybody.

So with that price looking at the master list would put me about 1600 over invoice correct?

Ya plugged everything in and it was around 3500-4K over but with their 1900 or so "discount" I took the rest off which put me ballpark 1600 over which was roughly 35,600

He paid Full MSRP. The dealer may have bought down a point or two for non negotiable vehicle. I cannot wrap my head around $40K for a Tacoma. I should sell mine and pocket a grand...

TRD Sport 2WD DC White. My wife has the paperwork at her work so I'm not sure on my negotiated selling price before all the dealership fees, loss on my trade, and Texas 8.25% sales tax but I was OTD at $33,000 with GAP. I got 2.75 for 75 months at the dealership, purchased on a Saturday. My wife is a manager at a credit union so we're going to re-finance there for 1.75% for 72 months. The payment will stay about the same bi-weekly. Set up to come out of her checks before they're deposited. I like it like that because that way I never have to worry about making the payment.

But I will enjoy the next 3 months of no payments, we bought it Saturday November 28th and will finalize the refi the week after New Years just before my first note is due with Toyota and score an additional 45 days of no payments. I'll take that. lol

    Agree with you.

But here Limited 4x4 guys are paying 41K MSRP + 5K market adjustment.

Then again when they are paying 100K for Escalades, 50k Tacoma seems cheap I suppose....

Oh hell no. There is no Tacoma worth over $40K to me. I cannot fathom the depreciation on an MSRP plus sale. When it comes time to trade there is a likely chance the buyer will be upside down.

I don't understand 70+ month car loan either. Back in my day 20 years ago if we could not pay it off in 36 months, we didn't buy it. Which usually meant used cars...I took a 30 month loan at 1.5% for my truck

If I did not get the discount I did, I would not have bought my Tacoma. I could probably sell my truck for what I paid for it. My own dealer cannot keep them on the lot.

For $35K plus I would be looking at 4 Runners or couple year old Lexus RX350..Not a pickup truck,

Value is different to different people. There are people who pay 60-70K for trucks too.

When I was a kid, trucks were farm equipment. Heck I could never think of paying over 25K for a truck, as we use it for our farm. Prices keep going up and up.

Honda Civics used to cost 13K, now they cost 22K.

I never heard of a 30 month loan. I have done 24 month 0% and 36 month 0% last two cars I bought. My LX570 has 6 more months to go on a 24 month loan.

There are 84 month loans now, I read on the WSJ

84 months? That's just nuts for a car.

I dictated the terms on my loan with PenFed. I could have gone out to 36 months and keep the rate but 2 1/2 years is good enough. I will probably pay it off sooner. I had the bread but 1.5% money seemed to good to let go of.

I never bought a new car until I retired. I refused to take five years to pay off a car. I "loaned myself " money for cars and paid myself back. This is the first bank financed vehicle I have had in years, Because of the low rates and the rate of income we are getting otherwise. At 61 I don't want to take on needless debt.

I have had PenFed since 2001. I had NO idea that I could dictate my terms. I usually do it online and check shows up. Learn something new everyday, appreciate it.

My Lotus was the first car I financed in 2008. 36 months. The LX was the second financed. The 2016 Taco I am hoping to order, will be cash + whatever I get from the sale of my 08 (high miles)

Owned 42 cars, 6 motorcycles, 2 trucks. Only my Lotus and LX was new. I have no problem getting a used 16 next year, but resale value often dictate (since I keep the trucks for a while) that I buy new. But I am ok with one with 20K or less miles.

"Experian said that 17% of all new car loans in the past quarter were between 73 and 84 months and there were even a few as long as 97 months."

I guess I am out of touch with reality,,,,,, I joined PenFed to get GM Supplier pricing on a C7 Corvette in 2014. LOL I decided I did not want it, sold my 08, and bought the Miata instead. Saved $40K I was ready to blow ( Later targeted that money instead for the Tacoma) MUCH better "investment" meaning losing a lot less in depreciation. .

I am sure glad today I did not use the discount at Kerbecks in NJ. I went up there look at all the colors and models and decided it was crazy then to blow $60K on any car. Especially a first year GM vehicle. Regardless of the discount. But we sacrificed most of our lives and earned the right to be a little silly with our money at 61. My wife doesn't think i will keep the truck after a year. LOL That's why I try to buy right. Any savings up front is magnified when one goes to resell or trade. People who are paying $5000 over MSRP will be buried in the vehicle the entire time they own it. They gave away all their future equity and more!!!

I don't keep vehicles longer than a couple years so buying right is extremely important for me. No MSRP or addendums. I would rather buy used than pay MSRP for any vehicle new.

I am with you. My DD is a NC PRHT Premium. My 5th one. Had 2 NA (R and M) , NB, MSM, and now the NC2. ND looks pretty good. I got my NC2 1 year old with 9K miles from Maryland.

Thing with people who pay 5K over MSRP (in my view locally):
    1) They keep rolling negative equity from one to the next

    2) THey buy cash, don't really care, and move on.

I almost bought the new ND....But after buying my 12 SE for $20K , I test drove the ND and could not "see" another $14,000, Now after reading the ND forum I am glad I did not buy it. I like the NC much better, Now the Fiat version looks very nice......

I get silly with money nowadays but even with that, I still look for a bargain. The Tacoma deal I got was a bargain IMO as well as the NC I few to Ft Lauderdale to buy and drive back to save $3000 over local NC PRHTs GTs, The SE is different. Kind of like a Club with all the options.

Having been on M.net since 1999, when Gary switched the forum over, I know well enough to buy the Miata end of model year. MY NC2 MSRP was 32145. I paid 19,500. They give them away at year end.

The ND PRHT is coming, so I am looking forward to how that looks. Fiat front end is not sitting right with me (yet).
