Good for you. Everytime I see a 3rd Gen in SoCal with local dealer license plate frames, I can't but help think they overpaid. haha

I was thinking while I was driving mine around with my Oregon dealer plates on that people were probably wondering why would someone go so far to buy a truck.

I am not that far from you. You might see me on the 10freeway with AZ plate frame.

Good deal. Glad to see someone else sticking it to the SoCal dealers.

Packages: SR Convenience, Tow, 50 Emissions

28520$ (Before Tax, Doc and License Fee)

I've been looking for a TRD Off Road and found one with the following:
2016 Black DCSB TRD Off Road
Premium & Technology Package w/Jbl Audio
    Towing Package
    Hard Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover
    Mudguards
All Weather Floor Liners & Door Sill Protectors
    All Weather Mats

OTD Agreed on price is 41,000 (that includes all fees). No money other than the deposit has been exchanged yet.

    This an okay deal?

Is it a 4x4? What's the total of the fees? Taxes, licensing, and any other fees. That will help with answering this. My initial response is you're overpaying.

Thoughts? That's sale price, no tax/fees. 36,665 total [285.00 dealer feels, 5.5% tax]

While it's not what I wanted to hear, I am relieved that I haven't signed anything and can get the deposit back if the price is too high.

It is a 4x4. The original cost and fees are listed below

    MSRP $39,758.00
    TAX $3,204.96
    Doc Fees $299.00
    Fees $175.00
    Total $43,436.96

One thing to note is that I negotiated only the OTD price. I got it down to $41,000 and I was told that is the final OTD price I can expect to pay. I was wondering if I should have negotiated the MSRP instead of the bottom line number so I could see the full breakdown.

The truck is being purchased in Massachusetts.

As much as I want the Tacoma, if I am definitely overpaying I have no problem backing out entirely.

FLAWLESS Certified pre-owned driven by the dealership managers only, as a demo with 1700 miles. CPO also has the longer 7year, 100k mile warranty :)

    2016
    TRD off road
    Auto v6
    4door shortbed
    premium
    Tech
    Tow
    JBL

every option available except tonneau cover. Stole it! They're listing used with 6-10k miles for $38-40,000 all day long here on craigslist.

We basically have the same truck. My msrp was 39200 and I paid 36900 plus fees.

If this is in reply to my post then I DEFINITELY would be paying too much. Especially since it appears Tacomas seem to be more expensive on the West Coast.

I bought in Oregon. It may be easier to buy there than mass

They may list for that but what is the actual purchase price. The dealer I bought from listed my 2009 4 years old with 87k for $500 less than I paid new. I seriously doubt that he got the listed price. Look at Auto Trader and you will see the same ridiculous list prices.

what the hell is a VSPEC Tacoma?

You got the tonneau cover for free. Not much lower than MSRP there

I would not pay that much for anything with 1700 miles that I did not drive. People drive the shit out of vehicles they don't own. eff that. You are getting the Premium JBL for free and it's used. Not worth it to me

for you socal guys that are buying the trucks out of state, when you register it, do you have to pay that tax all at once? or is it somehow all wrapped into your loan like it would be in bought locally?

LOL it's under warranty, and they certainly can't drive it harder than I do. I got a fantastic deal, and am super happy with it. Made them check all fluids, grease all zerk fittings, oil change, add all weather mats and do all the software updates before I picked it up. It's dialed and I'm in love.

I agree with you...I bought a Pilot when they first came out...it had been the sales manager's car and it was loaded! I picked it up at the end of the month and saved about $8k. It had never been titled so as far as I was concerned it was still "new".
