    Hi Guys,

I’m the owner of a Tacoma 2019 TRD Sport / Manual
Kinda proudly if this problem wouldn’t be.
Every time I accelerate the Truck is moving back and forth a tiny tiny bit. Kinda shaking not a proper acceleration.
I went to the dealership and they said I need to change gas. So I put 94 octane in it and it’s still doing it.
There is also a story before I had twice a 6 miss firing cylinders for a super short time.
Could that be a bad fuel pump which I know there is a recall out but I haven’t heard something till now.

    can someone help me ?

I have this same issue. It doesn't do it all the time and I notice it gets worse when the weather changes. Sometimes it feels like it's only running on 3 cylinders. Sometimes when I step on the gas, it just sits there and doesn't move. I'm taking it in again tomorrow for them to look at it. Pretty tired of this issue.

Oh I see due there is no turbo in that engine. The pump regulates all the gas going in the chamber.

I hope they will figure it out your issue sounds way more serious than mine.

It’s just annoying cuz this is a brand new truck and I don’t really enjoy the drive.
Unfortunately I don’t have much experience with car engines

Do you have a standard as well?

These trucks only require 87 so I'd go back to the dealer if they said you need premium. My dealer even specifically told me to just use 87 octane.

    Welcome to TW!

That really sucks that you are having this issue. You mean the truck hesitates/jerks when you acceletate? Definetily should not do that.

Dealer telling you to use 94 is complete bullshit. You do not need 94 for this 3.5 to run properly. I run 91, only because no ethanol.

My truck drives smooth and never jerks back and forth, that would drive me insane. You have a 2019, so you shouldnt require any ECU updates, i have no clue what that could be. Might be bad fuel pump like you said.

Definetily try different dealer, and dont believe everything they say. Unfortunately most of them are scumbags and dont care about you. You have to push them hard to get shit done sometimes.

I noticed you have DC SB SPORT MT, so you must be in canada. You from BC by any chance?

    Good luck man.

Take it to another dealer and have them computer scan it . That miss fire is the problem .

What's the Mfg date of your truck, it's on the ID tag on your driver's door frame.

Yes low pressure fuel pump may cause those issues.... but so can a few other things...

Ask them to perform a "Techstream Health Check" on your truck if you have not already had the software re-flash done.

There are a few threads here regarding service bulletins to quote the symptoms of to get the flash done,
but Techstream's Health Check makes sure your trucks firmware and calibration maps are up to date.

Takes less than 10 mins for them to perform....

Does it do it constantly throughout say a 15-20 minute drive, or just at the beginning? I have a 2019 TRD sport 6MT as well, and what I have noticed is that first thing in the morning there will be something like what you describe when first going into 2nd, but then it lasts for only a couple seconds and after that things are fine the rest of the day. I notice I can really get it to happen if I put into 2nd, then slow down and try to re-rev without changing gears, so like putting it into 2nd then rolling around a turn. But like I say, it usually only happens the once and the rest of the day no problems. Not sure if this is what you're describing or not....

Ooh so they changed it for 2019s and up then. Interesting, would love to know their reasoning.

U.S. only gets double cab with MT I think now.

Edit: I lied the Sport can still come with ACLB MT apparently.

Yeah think 16-17 had a recall for the high pressure fuel pump and 18-19 had a recall for the low pressure pump. If it’s fish biting and the ignition is good compression is good injectors are good chances are it’s the pump.

When they told you to "change gas", are you sure they meant higher octane?
