    Hey folks,
Did Toyota stop making Pre-runner 2x4's? All I see out there are 6 cyl. 4 wheel drives. I'm looking for 2 wheel drive, 4 cyl.Pre-Runners, access cab, 2013- 2014. They made them years ago. I have a 2005 base model, access cab. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,, Steve

No, they still make them. I've had my 2013 AC Prerunner since the end of August. They're all over the place here in central Texas.

And Beavis, why would you say unfortunately? Did someone in a Prerunner do something to offend you?

They sell more prerunners around here than 4x4's.

The trucks are not listed as "2x4" though. It will just say "prerunner".

    Prerunner = 2x4

That's kinda mean, but I have noticed that there seems to be several folks here who like to stir things up.

Around here, you pretty much have to special order a 4x4.

Same here. A look at the couple of places around here that sell Toyotas has the ratio at about 10:1 in favour of 4X4...

I see you are looking for a PreRunner 4 cylinder. If they make those, they most be limited. I have a PreRunner, but it is a 6 cylinder.

Toyota uses the prerunner designation to mean lifted 2wd. Prerunner has no association with TRD options. I would also like to point out that TRD has 2 options, sport and off road. The differences are easy to look up but basically sport has a lot of color matched pieces as well as a hood scoop. The offroad has chrome bumpers and comes with an electronic rear locker.

Your description of what you are looking for implies 4 cyl., Reg cab, 2wd, lifted(prerunner), non TRD. I believe you have all your descriptions right its just a hard set of parameters to find on the lot.

You aren't able to get reg cab TRD models but if you do end up looking at TRD bear in mind the differences I highlighted.

HaHa- don't sweat the comments Slats. I doubt there's any ill will intended. Gotta have thick skin to be on most forums.

Hey THANKS for all the Feedback. The most I've ever gotten on a Forum of any kind.
Probably have to Special Order in these parts. I did see one in Houston,Tx. Trouble is, most are 4x4 6cyl. I don't need the extra power and off road capabilities. I'm looking for fuel economy, but like the higher clearance in the Prerunners. The base model sits too low.
I liked the picture of the wood 2x4,,,,,Ha !! That Blue Crw Cab was sharp too.
Thanks again,,,,,,, I'm still looking ! Steve

Listen, 2.7 AC Prerunners are all around in Texas. Don't let Toyota's website throw you. According to it, you can't get that particular combo. I'd just about given up when I decided to check the local dealership website and found plenty. I had my choice of base Prerunner or the SR5 version. Now this was 5 months ago and it was a 2013, so I guess there is a chance things might have changed since I bought mine.

I would be one of them, no regrets at all. Can't wait for the day for it to be supercharged.
