15's don't fit over stock 2nd gen calipers. Irrelevant. And tire sizes are a bit different.

Naw, the question should be is why would anyone sign up to drive a base Tacoma? I guess you could put decals on the sides and deliver auto parts or pizza.

My neighbour has a 6 month old truck with 15" wheels and tires in the size I mention. It is a 2wd truck.

OME 885 with 5100's in front, TSB and AAL with 5125's in back. 30" light bar in the valance.
You must be comparing base model tacos to SR5 and TRD's. Also, you are comparing two different tire sizes. Of course 16's are going to cost more than 15's.

Should have noted 6 lug. You are correct 15's will fit a 5 lug.

Can't say what the origin for certain but I do know the military has referred to their vehicles that way at least as far back as Vietnam. What most of us called "deuce and a half" was called 6x4..for 6 wheels, 4 wheel drive. Personally, in my 60 plus years, I've never heard it used to indicate 4 speed and 4 wheel drive.

On a related note, for some of us remember that before the advent of front wheel drive, the initials FWD were often used in magazines to indicate 4WD.

Yeah, here in South Florida a lot of trucks come 4x2. My last truck, Tundra, was a 4x4 and I rarely ever used it, only time I used it was in sugar sand and/or pulling someone out. But I walk around the Toyota lot when my truck is in for an service and the majority of them out their are Prerunners.

You'll get it there...there's no problem getting any built taco delivered anywhere. The only condition is that it should be a 'standard' build or the plant may decline the order for technical reasons. (e.g. towing package on a certain model may require upgrade to next wheel size, etc.) I went on-line and found sticker pics where prerunners were stocked to get standard build to order mine so it would be just another truck rolling down the Texas production line. My dealer made it clear that Prerunners were NOT intentionally stocked for Mid-Atlantic toyota, especially as I wanted the towing package (not just the hitch). Mine was in 'build' about 2 1/2 weeks after order was placed.
It's also good to ask for updates to keep the dealer on their toes. It should be build week, plus about 2 weeks for delivery to your dealer.

Strongly suggest getting a hard rubber bed mat and decent all weather floor mats. You'll be glad you did.

As expected, right about 6 weeks (mine was 7 due to Christmas/NewYears holidays-truckers take off)
Go for some Weathertech floor mats (all weather), pair of weathertech side deflectors, and plan on a fog light install.
TMMTX (first vin = 5) is in San Antonio, just a run down the road from Ky. Although they build them in Baja California too (first vin number = 3)
Also, as a 4cyl, it uses 0-20 synthetic and 6 month change interval.
    Congrats!!

10-4 on the WeatherTech floor mats. I'll get them lined up. Window deflectors I like too. Had them on a 69 Chevy, they were neat. Bed mat? I'll have to find one local I guess...too heavy to ship. Any ideals on nice seat covers? They have Leather covers now,,,I'm so far behind,,,Ha !! Thanks Fluffy, OCNutty, edm3rd.....Vin#5TFTX4GN That's San Antonio, Texas. Anybody know how to tell what day of the week this thing came out? Later,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Slats

Should have a label on the door jam for week of mfr. I wouldn't worry about that imho. It's new. Als can check the date on the battery.. That's how i knew when my 07 Highlander was built [in Japan.]
Also gotta decide on the floor mats vs. floorliners. I like the mats. Also on this site alot talk about a bed mat; as it's composite bed, why a mat? you gonna haul gravel?

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
The mat keeps things from sliding around.

they make them, i have just never seen one. i asked a dealer about it once, they said besides the base models, they do not even bother ordering 4 cyl. because they dont sell well and when i asked about the access cab, he kinda chuckled and said their cost diff. between quad cab and access cab is less than $900 and quad cab sells better, so they do not stock them.

dealers here do not even stock access cab, at all. just regular and quad.

this was a couple of years ago, but i am sure the premise is still valid. just ask the dealer to find one, usually charge $1000 to $1200 extra, but they will find one somewhere in the country and get it to you.

    cheers,
    disco

If you can't get an OEM mat at a price you like, check out TSC (Tractor Supply) for a 4/6 horse stall mat (seems like I heard there are a few horses in Ky). Trim to fit. I got lucky on mine, found a Toyota dealer with a website that was offering free shipping.

There's an active thread on here right now "DIY bed mat".
