My old man said almost all Toyota engines were first tried out in the Lexus. The Atkinson motor has been around for a while and it is a good motor.Only now they have it with direct injection and port injection with the fuel delivery to the cylinders for better gas mileage and keeping the valves cleaner.

Your father is wrong. All Lexus engines are Toyota engines, since they are the same company and it's Toyota. Did you have a question?

I just gave you a fact, not opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
Internal combustion engines as a whole are 100 year old technology. Atkinson is not new. Eco boost from ford is not new. There is really no new ICE development that has not been done already. What makes it different is how this technology is controlled.
    Quick lesson:
How efficient is the gasoline engine? The answer is about 26%. That's it. So, for lack of a better term I will call them "tricks," manufacturers use to give their vehicles a better output efficiency measured in both mpg and power. To name a few:
    Cylinder deactivation
    Auto stop start
    Direct injection
    Supercharge
    V TECH
    Ecoboost (turbo)
    And countless more

All these are designed to increase efficiency and/or power. Toyota has figured out how to use old tech with new control to increase efficiency. There you go. BTW Lexus uses Toyota engines.

I believe the OP never said they were Lexus engines, just that the Toyota engines were tried out in Lexus first.

My only point is, you already have created a thread on this exact subject, in which you are actively participating.

TW is an extremely powerful resource, if used wisely.

Yeah, everyone has to start somewhere (no sarcasm).

I am also a "noob", just been here a little longer.

One thing I could recommend, is take everything you read here with a grain of salt until you get more "up to speed", and try and keep your sense of humor well oiled.

    And.....welcome!

    Thats BS...

    Here's one for ya though..

The technology in this motor has been in the Honda Civic since 2006...lol

Its a version of the i-vtec in the R18 platform... Honda does it slightly different but its the same deal... Low compression, open valves, reuses combustion left overs..

It's my understanding that you don't want to travel at a steady speed at first, any truth to that, I have no clue.

Yes that is what I heard to fluctuate your speed for the first 1000kms for proper break in of the motor. Is that right.A lot of people say it is already broken in at the factory?
