That's good mileage. You drive a stick?

Just caught your sig, so yes you do. my truck is new, so I am expecting it to be somewhat better a few months down the road. Speaking of cold, its cold here this winter, and I drive 14 km to work. Truck sits in the cold all day and then I drive home. I doubt my diff fluids even reach optimal temps. I'm aware t all plays a part. I have an ultragauge in a box and its too frickin cold to hook it up.

Guys, I accept mileage for what it is. But I like FACTS, and I like to understand those facts. I plan to see how good I can do when I hook up the gauge. But I also intend to drive like a maniac for a couple of tanks. I want to see what my truck is capable of, at its best, and worst.

14 km is a problem especially if you need to warm up before hitting the road. I drive 10 miles, (17 km) but I don't spend more than a few seconds warming up and with a max mph of 50 I'll get to work between 26-30 depending. -4F and it will be 23-26, tomorrow should be 27F and I might get 29 mpg. Very few lights that I can time pretty well. A couple poorly timed (unskilled) stop lights and it could be 21-23.

i have found if you remove the secondary filter run under 2k rpm and put 93 octane you will get good milage even better if you can find a non eth gas station

Serious sound deadening in the cab and extensive audio system.
My drive to and from work is about 20 miles each way. About 16 of that is interstate. I have about 2 miles at each end of non interstate. So the interstate portion is, depending on traffic, between 55 and 70. Fortunatey my morning commute is around 5:30 AM so not much traffic but the evening drive is not so clear.

I don't let it sit and warm up for long. The question is the trade off. Sitting at idle just burns gas at ZERO mpg. I also understand that the engine/drive train is more efficient at normal operating temperature. So the question is at what time do you cut off the warm-up and start driving?

We have been been experiencing abnormally cold temps this winter. A lot of single digit and teen temps in the morning.

I'm sorry but that is amazingly good. I get 32 in a 2013 1.6L Hyundai Accent hatchback (my commuter). But I live in the People's republic of Retardifornia and they put ethanol in all their fucking gas.

It's E10 around here, my best tanks were on E0, haven't had that in 5 years.

14.5 - 15 MPG but i have a heavy foot and do a crapload of driving for my job, usually cruising at 100-130 km/h so about 2k rpm steady for an hour + at a time. Mind you it is a 4L and automatic, i'm scared to see what happens when my lift and new tires go on in a couple weeks

I'm testing a couple things now. I upped my tire pressure to 38 psi for this current tank. Next fill up I'm going to try a tank of premium. I THINK its ethanol free in Canada??

The cold and the effects it has on Lubricity and friction plays a bigger part then you can imagine. And that is Scientific/Engineering fact.

That was the last post by liftedf25099, who you called out about imperial gallons. Not relevant to him, he may drive slower than you.

My 2012 DCLB trd sport gets about 16-17 with my regular driving using 87 octane. Ive done some experimenting and found that 93 octane gets me about 1mpg better across the board, but I have never got better than 18-19mpg on highway trips (75mph avg). The engine/tranny/aerodynamics of this vehicle are not made for great mileage.
My fuelly listed below only shows my first year of fillups. Ive had it almost 3 years now and 48k miles since I bought new.
If I had the patience to try hyper-miling for a fillup I doubt I would ever reach 20 mpgs. :(
