I'm a new member so if my question has already been addressed I'm sorry. :) My Tacoma 4x4 is a DLX not an SR5. The DLX has sealed beam headlights and the SR5 has the plug in bulb type.

My question is has anyone changed the DLX sealed beam to a SR5 bulb type head light? I've called a few places and I'm told that it's a large conversion but they aren't ( or don't want to) able to tell me what needs to be changed.

I want to have the option of using different bulbs and the DLX type won't give me that flexibility

Thanks everybody .......... this is a great site !!!!!!!!!!!!:D

What year Taco are you referring to? AFAIK, 95.5-97 6 lug trucks used sealed beam halogens. You can get replacement headlamps that use H4 bulbs. Below is an example of what you can get. There's a crapload of this stuff on eBay.

Sorry, I meant to say 1997 Tacoma 4x4 LX, 6 lug wheels. Is it possible to swap the LX sealed head light with an SR5 socket type head light

    Thanks

I ran a pair of Hella Vision Plus Head Light Conversions in my 92 Toyota Pickup, and loved them. They greatly improved visibility, with no appreciable increase in glare to oncoming vehicles. (Like all headlights, they require proper aiming when installed.)

I'm not sure where else they might be available, but Google found them here... http://tinyurl.com/65d7b3h.
