Just had a recent issue on Saturday switching into 4x4 mode. Heard & felt 2 large snaps after switching. Then it stopped while driving! Had a difficult time getting out of 4x4 mode. All this on flat surface.
Dealership said they can't find any issue with it after I dropped it off. WTF. I had a passenger in truck while all this happened.
    What to do?

It's normal to feel and hear a clunk/thud or two when switching from 2wd to 4hi and vice-versa, especially if you're doing it on the fly...sometimes it's more pronounced than others. It's unsettling the first few times you hear it but normal. What do you mean though that it 'stopped while driving'?
