Key shop can cut the key. If chipped, you must remove the chip from your current key, use an exacto knife to open up the rubber coating from the factory key, remove chip, use small amt of adhesive to mount chip in new key, reprogram new key functions (google search) easy peazy
ps...my all in one key did not have the trunk button....search around

Could the trunk button be used to work something else, say pop the gas door open

That's a bummer that one guy on TW is out of business. I bought two of those keys from him back in the day, and still use them today...

I have been searching with no luck. And I’d like to not mess with my original keys.. I guess I’ll have to buy the 4 Button with the correct fcc and see if I can get the keyless entry working before having it cut and programmed to start the truck. I installed an ajt job on an all in one key for a friends 4runner and it included an blank for the trunk button Incase you had a 3 button fob.. if it works I’ll go that route..

While having the same FCC ID means it will work, not having the same ID doesn’t always mean it won’t work, just that it is from a different supplier or other things like that. Still, it’s a bit of a gamble I agree.

I can try to nail down something more concrete when I have more time. There are other potential options, but it is often hard to know for sure without attempting it.

Do you have a link to a key you’ve found that does have the same FCC ID? It may help my cross checking.

I ordered this one earlier.. figured since it says it works with tacoma that they shouldn’t argue with a return if it doesn’t work

Edit to add: Where I work has a key cutting machine so that part won’t be a problem. And I have downloaded techstream and am in the process of finding a cable to program the g chip.. so if I can’t get the keyless entry part working first I’ll abort and try a different option.

If it does work you can always just order the case from Toyota with only 3 buttons and pop the transmitter from this into it. Provided it’s the correct Toyota shape internally.

If it does come to that, post a pic of the internals and I’ll see if I can get you a Toyota case that would work for you.

Yes he is. Now my only problem is getting it cut and programed. My original key guy retired and everyone else wants to charge $75 or more to do it.

I done one for a friend with a 4runner and it was pretty easy.. and I have my two original keys (one with an ajt fob).. the all in one I ordered was only 20 dollars so if it programs correctly I’m not too concerned about cutting up the plastic case.

I think if your (meaning anyone) crafty, it could be done with very limited damage, just my .02
Is there a link for the one that's the key and fob, non folding type?

    Dah, found it, thx

On second thought, they all say 11 -15.
Is there one for earlier models, my key has a dot on it

Do you know what you’re Fcc id is on your fob? I searched for that number on eBay and found the one I ordered.
