I would love to watch that unfold. My GF asked why I didn't do what they said. I just laughed. Told her 1.. they lie. 2 coopers are otw. She seemed surprised by that. Which surprised me

Ask her if she did what they said when she brought her vehicle in at 15,000 miles and they recommended a throttle body and fuel injector cleaning to the tune of $400 :)

This thread has almost as much bad information as the dopey service advisor provided.

    1. Toyota dealers are independent franchises. There are franchise rules they must follow.
    2. They can sell aftermarket parts, but rarely do because it causes warranty issues meaning that only that dealer will warranty the part.
    3. There is nothing prohibiting you from putting Coopers on your truck. It will not void your warranty unless it can be proven that whatever part that has failed was the result of said tires.
    4. Cooper tires are not the greatest. They are low priced tires that have their place in the market. I wouldn't run them, but that doesn't make them bad. I don't buy Chryslers. They are not bad. They are cheaper than Toyotas, but I don't want to deal with the hassle that comes with a lower cost product. I bought a dead blow hammer at Harbor Freight. I didn't want to spend the money on a Snap-On since I only use it occasionally and if I lose it, so be it. Make sense where Coopers fall into the market?

Low priced tires? OE size runs about $225 (at3) per tire. That is a little above average for non performance type tire.

They outperform the HT duelers that came on my 2011 sport.

You must not have priced them lately, here they are within about $5 of KO2's.

Last 3 sets I had were Cooper A/T, changed them at around 55,000 miles because they got loud, had plenty of tread left. Other than loud with miles, they were better than the Goodyear Adventures I tried.

Don't know where you're getting your tires, but you're getting ripped off. Just ordered 4 AT3 4S (stock 265/70/16 size) for $152 a piece. $177 each installed.

I am just quoting discount tires online price. Obviously got the original set for cheaper.

My last pair all I paid was the certs :spending:
    so not getting ripped!

But you got a good deal too. How you like the 265-70 size?

The 265/70's are the stock size and suit my needs. Haven't gotten them installed yet, that's next week (they're coming in today, but I don't have the time to get them on). I have a set of 265/70/17 AT3 4S' on the 2nd gen and I really like them. Those were a little bit more expensive at around $186 a tire installed. Haven't driven them in the snow yet, but they do great in the rain. The place I get my tires beats Tire Rack every time and they take care of my trucks. Unlike the dealer who left greasy prints on my door, damaged my wheel center cap, and I see oil residue all on the underside skid plate...

Just put a set of Eldorado's (made by Cooper) on my son's 2007/2nd Gen and so far they seem great. Let's see how they do in the Ohio snow and whatever cornfield/mudpit his room mate takes him into.
