I live in New England, and fortunately I Have a deposit on An “Allotted” Lunar Rock Double Cab, “Off-Road”. My question is : How come all the dealers do not really have any Tacomas in Stock, everything is listed “In Transit” and when you call, they tell you that unit is already sold. I remember they used to have a number in Stock. I have noticed, That Ford, GM on Lots are beginning to fill up. Why such a Issue getting them. I am just curious.Thank you.

They’re being sold as fast as they can make them. If demand outpaces supply, they charge/make more.

Remember "Cabbage Patch Kids" and "Tickle-Me Elmo" from Christmases past? Tacoma are like that but NOT just during Christmas.

They are just super popular and they cant keep up with demand. I had to put a deposit on mine that was still being built at the time. Dealer said like 6 or 7 people tried to buy it when i was picking it up.

Chip shortage, nobody wants to work, etc. Insert next societal excuse. Can't keep up with the need.

Port regulations changed. Once could get in and out within 2 hours with 3 forms. Now is 30 forms and 48 hours minimum. Truck drivers are not paid to wait those 48 hours, just when they are actually driving. So ... 12 years olds driving trucks as replacements.

That among many other imposed limitations that could be lifted by those who imposed the restrictions.

Yea even at the height of the 'shortage' you could still get a Dodge or a Ford or a Chevy. Lots to choose from too.
    I wonder why.

Ooof 4.49 or 5% APR on Tacomas around here. Best offer from Toyota not sure if any bank would beat that rate. I'd be trying to pay cash for a new Tacoma right now.

I am at the age I like cash being around. I could drain cash reserves immediately, or finance and pay smaller amounts for a while until it can be re-financed at a lower rate in a year. Or until I feel better about draining cash.

Do not let pride make money choices these days ... my advice.

When the pathetic business managers are ejected from power in two years, business can get back to normal.

In the meantime ... "cash poor" is a bad position, for me at least. But you choose.

I was after an SR5, DC-4WD. This was late 2022. Had just snagged a '22 4R-4WD, new. Sourced a 4 state area, not all dealers, no luck, same story, in transit, or already sold.
October, the dealer we purchased another Tacoma from in TN, called, said they had a Lunar Rock OR-TRD-4WD in their allotment.
No delivery date, and the temporary VIN had not been issued yet. We quickly made a deposit. Final delivery, 12/27/22.
We just wanted to get these '22 and 23's before new production stopped, and not interested in any '24 models with 4 cylinder engines. We have had many Tacomas and 4Runners since 2008, best value on trade or sale, and reliable.

I had one on order at Williams last year until another dealer called with the same one I wanted already built. Williams was one of the dealers selling at msrp without a markup.

Down here in south FL they are offering 2.75% financing for 36 months on new Tacomas. My dealer's website lists 34 tacos with 13 on the lot. They don't offer financing incentives unless they need it to move vehicles. Prices are still ridiculous, especially with SE Toyota's overpriced distributor add-ons. TRD OR premium 4wd is over $47k.

I’m in central Indiana and if you’re looking for new Toyota good luck finding it on a lot. I’m
Being told several models are still 3-5 months out when putting down a deposit with more rare models still up to a year.
