Tacoma Badge overlays

I am looking to putting overlays on the Tacoma and V6 badges on my 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport. my question is are the only overlays you can by OEM from Toyota? I do not want to buy replacement badges just the overlay. at the same time I do not want to pay the 100 or so bucks through Toyota.

 

Amazon shows some for $39.99. I can't say if they are any good or not though. I went the other way and debadged my truck. Also the Toyota ones are not badged. They are overlays.

I went with the Overlays from Toyota but waited for one of the 20% off EBay coupons to hit and then sold the tailgate letters from the kit so it ended up not being too expensive.

 

These aren't overlays. They are solid replacement emblems.

 

Thanks for the heads up... really don't want to replace the badges just get the overlays but in finding the only overlays you can find are through Toyota.

I just couldn’t pay OEM price for an overlay so after several months i found QuikKap but for some reason they don’t have it listed on their website. I just went through their IG and noticed they deleted all Tacom QuickKap Overlay postings.

I got Quickkaps...looks like they stopped selling Tacoma overlays

 

I wanted the overlays for mine, I could only find the Toyota ones and didn't really care enough about them to spend $100+ on them. I even reached out to Quickkaps and they said they no longer have the Toyota overlays. I ended up just buying the $40 replacement emblems and swapped them over. The removal and install was surprisingly easy, took probably 15-20 mins total and all I used was dental floss, a heat gun, and a plastic putty knife. I found the putty knife worked the best, I used solely that on the last badge and it was able to remove the the badge with the adhesive still on it. Before removing, I put a piece of masking tape along the bottom and up each side (vertically along the "T" and the "A") so I knew where to install the new badges and could keep them straight. After removing I went over the area with goof-off stuff and then with some alcohol swaps, then buffed it with a clean terry cloth, then applied the emblems. It was easier than I thought it would be.

 

How snug do the OEM overlays fit? Thanks for any help!

 

They were a perfect tight fit, seems as if it were vacuum formed around the badges

I got a nice set of the 3 overlays on ebay for $35. Very happy with the fit.

 

I went overlays as well.

 

I bought the 40 dollar set from Amazon. Been on for almost a year. Still look good

 

Got mine from Amazon for like 30 dollars. They look great

One advantage is that overlays take the guesswork out of placement. You just push them onto the existing letters.
